We started this team in April of 2023 with 2 students who wanted to go to a few tournaments.

Brian M. Said it best on a post he made about our Senior Fisherman Zane Drysdale. He is a great kid and has been a real joy to know and fish with.
It has been a long time from your first tournament to now with a lot of highs and some lows but in the end, a great time and experience to have you with us.

After looking at all of these photos, I didn’t realize how many days and nights we traveled together over the last 3 years. It has been a real delight to experience all of this with you.

Keep enjoying life and perusing your future goals with the same passion you had with fishing and the WHS Bass Team.

I am very late with the first photo being posted. That is Zane and Hayden at the Tri-County Conference Tournament held on Evergreen Lake. They tied for second with 5 fish weighing 7.14lbs. It was a good day catching lots of fish.
The next two CASSTT tournaments were at Braidwood and the Kankakee/DesPlanes River that weekend and they did not go well for us (no fish) but we had one team attend each. (No Photos).

Today we were back at Braidwood for our IHSA Regional Assignment. Marley and Garet landed 5 keepers for 13.06lbs placing them 2nd and advancement to Sectionals. Zane and Hayden landed 1 fish weighing 1.05lbs which I believe placed them 10th. And, of course, we can’t come to Braidwood without running across a big catfish.

Sunday at Banner Marsh.
Zane and Hayden caught 5 for 9lb 4oz and were twelfth (12) out of 46 teams.
Garet and Zane landed 2 for 3lbs 3oz for a 30th placing after a really late start for one of that pair who needed a wake up call at our departure time.

We had a fun, windy, cold, and lots of driving for 2 days of fishing this weekend.
Started at Sangchris Lake on Saturday. Zane and Hayden landed 4 fish weighing 5lbs 14oz for 39th out of 60 teams. Garet and Zach landed 2 nice fish weighing 4lbs 3oz for a 42nd placing.
Finished up Sunday at Clinton lake with an 80 boat tournament.
Zane and Hayden placed 20th - 5 fish weighing 9lbs 2oz. Garet and Zach placed 24th - 3 fish weighing 7lbs 13oz
A big thank you to Josh Cain and Brian Marsinko for each giving up a day to take the boys out.
Also a shout out to Zane Drysdale for winning “Mr. WHS” on Friday night. Obviously the swimsuit portion was not the majority of the score.

Marley and Zane landed one for 23rd place with a weight of 3.12lbs.

Had a 3 day trip and fished 2 Tournaments on Lake Egypt this weekend. Thanks to Brian Marsinko again for making it possible for 2 teams to attend by being a boat Captain and for putting his group on the fish.
Saturday, Hayden and Zane placed 45th/101 teams with 5 fish weighing 8-5. Garet and Zach landed in 75th with 2 fish weighing 2-14.
Sunday, Hayden and Zane placed 30th/83 teams with another 5 fish at 9-15. Garet and Zach placed 59th with 2 fish again weighing 2-14.

This was a wrap-up of the Fall CASSTT season in Illinois. We had one team of Zach Murphy and Garet Cain on the Fox Chain of Lakes on Sunday 10/12. They caught 4 fish for 6lb 13oz putting us 13th out of 33 boats. One more fish at 1 lb would have been a big push towards the top but that is how the chain fishes.
I just hope none of us caught anything from the hotel we stayed at.

Catching up again from Sunday, 10/5. We went all the way down to Lake Egypt over the weekend to a 74-boat CASSTT tournament. Zane and Hayden landed 4 fish for 5lb 6oz, which put them 37th. Garet and Fischer landed 2 for 1lb 14oz, which was still good enough for 51st place.
It was a lot of driving for myself and Captain Brian Marsinko and it was a bit of a tougher day than we had hoped for. But, I want to thank everyone who took the time to attend. I think everyone enjoyed the trip, even though there was some disappointment for the kids. However, learning how to handle disappointment can be a good thing. As I have heard many times, “It is called fishing, not catching.”

Sunday 9/28 on Clinton Lake at CASSTT tournament. It started off as a very slow day us but we landed 5 keepers again weighing 9lbs 15oz. Heavier than they thought as they were guessing it was going to be around 6 or 7. Since it was Homecoming weekend, we had a few boys missing and we teamed up Haden with Garet as an alternate for Zane. Good thing Garet had his date home before curfew if he may not have ever been able to fish with us again.

Another fun (long) weekend for the Woodland Bass Team and coaches. We headed down to Lake Jacksonville on Saturday afternoon to tour the lake for potential fishing spots. Then, we stoped back at Scheels to pick up some supplies then put our feed sacks on at Golden Corral before turning in for the night in Springfield.
We arrived back in Jacksonville Sunday morning for the tournament. After some searching for some missed placed boat keys we finally were on the water.
Zach and Garet were the 7th place team out of 29 with a bag of 5 fish weighing 9lb 14 oz. Zane and Hayden were 15th with 3 fish weighing 5lb 14oz. Zach also landed a nice fish weighing 4lbs 4oz.
