At its meeting of February 19, 2014, the Board of Trustees of Rowan University, upon Dr. Thomas Cavalieri's recommendation and that of the RowanSOM Executive Council, Rowan President Ali Houshmand, and the Academic Affairs/Student Affairs Subcommittee of the Board, approved the establishment of a new Department of Geriatrics and Gerontology at the Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine. The new department will comprise two divisions: Geriatric Medicine and Geriatric Behavioral Health. Considering that only about 10% of US medical schools have Departments of Geriatrics, that's pretty impressive!
