Today 4-H & FFA members competed in the annual Ag. Olympics! During this event, members formed teams of 4, and worked together to complete the following stations:
🥚 Egg Toss
🍼 Calf Bottle Flip
🐷 Walk a Pig
🐄 Lasso a Cow
3️⃣ Three Legged Race
🐐 Dress a Goat

The goal was to have the fastest time!

Due to the generosity of our prize sponsors, the top 6 student teams and the top 3 adult teams won prizes! THANK YOU to the following local businesses for sponsoring prizes:

We had 3 dairy exhibitors that participated in the 4-H/FFA Dairy Show today! 🐄 💜

Exhibitors were: Everett King, Chloe Welch and William Welch.

In the Showmanship classes:
🐄 Chloe placed 4th in the senior showmanship class.
🐄 William placed 5th in the senior showmanship class.
🐄 Everett placed 6th in the senior showmanship class.

In the Brown Swiss Show:
🐄 Everett received the following awards:
~Senior Heifer Calf- 1st place
~Junior Champion Division- Reserve Champion
~Reserve Grand Champion Brown Swiss

In the Holstein Show:
🐄 William received the following awards:
~Junior Heifer Calf- 2nd place
~Reserve Grand Champion Holstein
🐄 Chloe received the following awards:
~Junior Heifer Calf- 1st place
~Grand Champion Holstein

In the Jersey Show:
🐄 Chloe received the following awards: ~Aged Cow- 1st place
~Senior Champion Division- Champion

Chloe’s Holstein calf was also named Reserve Supreme Champion of the entire dairy show!

We had 5 goat exhibitors that participated in the 4-H/FFA Goat Showmanship, Market Goat and Breeding Shows today! 🐐 💜

Exhibitors were: Olivia Fisher, Colten Henry, Everett King, Allison Moxley & Madison Rutz.

In the Showmanship classes:
🐐 Olivia received a blue rating and was named Champion Senior Showman and Grand Champion Goat Showman.
🐐 Allison received a blue rating in her intermediate showmanship class.
🐐 Everett received a red rating in his intermediate showmanship class.
🐐 Madison received a blue rating in her intermediate showmanship class.
🐐 Colten received a blue rating in his senior novice showmanship class.

In the market goat classes:
💜 Allison- placed 2nd in medium weight class 3 and 2nd in heavyweight class 4.
💜 Everett- placed 5th in heavyweight class 1.
💜 Colten- placed 6th in heavyweight class 2.
💜 Madison- placed 4th in heavyweight class 3 and 3rd in heavyweight class 4.
💜 Olivia- placed 1st in heavyweight class 1 and 1st in heavyweight class 4. Her market goat was named Champion Heavyweight Market Goat and Reserve Grand Champion Market Goat. 🥇

In the breeding show:
🐐 Olivia placed 1st in the Senior Doe Kid class.

We had 5 swine exhibitors that participated in the 4-H/FFA Swine Showmanship, Market Hog and Breeding Shows today! 🐖 💜

Exhibitors were: Jacob Bowers, Gabriella Davis, Nolan Froemel, Riley Nugent & Sophia Tefft.

In the Showmanship classes:
🐷 Jacob received a blue rating & was the Reserve Champion Senior Swine Showman.
🐷 Nolan received a blue rating in his senior showmanship class.
🐷 Riley received a red rating in her intermediate showmanship class.
🐷 Sophia received a blue rating in her senior novice showmanship class. Sophia was also the Champion Novice Showman.
🐷 Gabby received a blue rating in her junior novice showmanship class.

In the market hog classes:
🥇Nolan- placed 1st in his class and was the Champion Lightweight Market Hog.
🥈Sophia- placed 2nd in her class and was the Reserve Champion Lightweight Market Hog. Sophia’s other pig also placed 2nd in middleweight class 1.
🐖 Gabby- placed 4th and 3rd in the middleweight classes 1 & 3.
🐖Riley- placed 1st in the heavyweight class 1.
🐖 Jacob- placed 2nd in middleweight class 2 and 3rd in heavyweight class 3. His market hog was also named the Champion Bred and Owned Market Hog.

In the breeding show:
🐷 Riley- placed 3rd in her breeding gilt class.
🐷 Jacob- placed 1st and 2nd in his breeding gilt classes. Jacob’s gilt was also chosen as the Grand Champion Breeding Gilt and the Grand Champion Bred and Owned Breeding Gilt. 🥇

This morning our Strasburg FFA members led groups of 2nd and 5th graders from Sandy Hook and W.W Robinson on their field trip to the Shenandoah County Fair! They got to see different types of livestock, equipment, and displays all around the fair while learning about agriculture and getting a close up view of the things that go into our County Fair each year!

This evening our FFA chapter dipped ice cream at the Dairy Center during the Shenandoah County Fair! 🍦 💙💛💜🐏

We had 2 beef exhibitors that participated in the 4-H/FFA Beef Showmanship, Market Steer and Breeding Shows today! 🐮 💜

Exhibitors were: Piper Dellinger & Lillian Dove

In the Showmanship classes:
🐮 Piper and Lillian received a red ribbon in their senior showmanship classes.

In the market steer class:
Lillian- placed 3rd in the heavyweight market class 1.

In the breeding show:
Piper- placed 1st in the Commercial Senior Heifer Calf class and 1st in the Charolais Late Junior Yearling Heifer Calf class.

We had 2 sheep exhibitors that participated in the 4-H/FFA Sheep Showmanship and Market Lamb Shows today! 🐑 💜

Exhibitors were: Olivia Fisher & Carson Stern.

In the Showmanship classes:
🐑 Olivia was the Champion Senior Showman and overall Grand Champion Showman.
🐑 Carson was 5th place in his senior showmanship class.

In the market lamb classes:
Carson- 5th and 6th place in the Division 1 class

Olivia- 1st place in both Division 4 Class 1 and Division 4 Class 2. Her market lamb was also named Division 4 Champion and overall Grand Champion Market Lamb! 🥇

Strasburg Alumni Sydney Neal and Ally Neal were the announcers for the sheep show! 🎤
