What an incredible day at the Virginia State Capitol! πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ’™

Our SKMS FFA members had the opportunity to participate in FFA Day at the Capitol, where they met with and learned from several of Virginia’s leaders, including Senator French and Delegates Tata, Oates, Pence, and Willey. Students shared their experiences in agricultural education, learned how state government supports agriculture, and advocated for the future of our industry.

We were also honored to hear from Governor Spanberger, who addressed a group of more than 900 Virginia FFA members and advisors. In addition, students had the opportunity to meet Secretary of Agriculture Katie Frazier and Secretary of Commerce and Trade Carrie Chenery and learn more about how their work supports agriculture and business across the Commonwealth.

We are thankful to our state staff, Virginia Cooperative Extension, foundation staff, and Tess Seibel for coordinating this event and providing advocacy training, as well as OMO Catering for providing lunch, and parent Brandon Davis for chaperoning our group.

We are so proud of our members for representing Signal K**b Middle School and FFA with professionalism and enthusiasm! πŸŒΎπŸ’›

πŸ¦ƒ FFA Game Day at Virginia Tech!

Yesterday, SKMS FFA teamed up with Legacy Christian Academy and hit the road with 50 students and chaperones to celebrate FFA Game Day at VT, held in conjunction with Ag Day and sponsored by Virginia Farm Bureau. It was an incredible day full of school spirit, agriculture pride, and plenty of Hokie fun!

Our members spent the afternoon exploring Hokie Village, soaking in the game day atmosphere, and cheering on the Hokies in Lane Stadium. And yes… they even enjoyed some legendary Hokie Legs while taking in the experience! 🦡πŸ”₯

A huge thank you to Virginia FFA and Virginia Farm Bureau for organizing such a memorable event and helping kick off the 100th Year Celebration of Virginia FFA in such an exciting way. We’re grateful for the opportunities you continue to provide our members.

We also want to give a shoutout to Varsity Travel / Schrock Travel, our travel partner for the day, for getting us there safely and comfortably.

And of course… no SKMS FFA road trip is complete without a stop at Buc-ee’s on the way home β€” brisket sandwiches all around! πŸ˜„πŸ’›

What a day to be a Hokie and an FFA member!

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ Honoring Our Heroes This Veterans Day πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Today, the SKMS FFA Chapter proudly pauses to honor and thank all who have served our country. Your bravery, sacrifice, and dedication ensure the freedoms we enjoy each day, and we are deeply grateful for your service.

This past Saturday, our members had the privilege of hosting our annual Veterans Day Breakfast in partnership with American Legion Post 77 and their Auxiliary. We were honored to welcome Jason Long as our keynote speaker and Ms. Warren County Fair Hannah Fisher, who shared her platform supporting veterans’ healthcare.

Our FFA members prepared the program and served breakfast to those who have selflessly served our nation. πŸ’™πŸ’›

Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating and recognizing our local heroes β€” today and every day, we honor you. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

✨ What an incredible week for SKMS FFA! ✨

Twenty of our members, along with five parents, had the amazing opportunity to attend the 98th National FFA Convention & Expo in Indianapolis! πŸ’™πŸ’›

Throughout the week, students explored the Career and Opportunity Expo, attended General Sessions, participated in National Leadership Workshops and Service Projects, and proudly walked across the national stage to receive our National 3-Star Chapter Award! We also got to cheer on two Strasburg alumni during the American Degree Sessionβ€”what an inspiring moment!

Mr. Stroud also represented our chapter and the Commonwealth in a roundtable with Agriculture Future of America, educating members on life after the blue jacket, and participated in a panel discussion with two other National FFA Teacher Ambassadors for potential industry partners with the National FFA Foundation.

Our adventures took us all around Indy: we toured the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the National FFA Center, tasted the famous Culver’s, braved Hanna Haunted Acres, bowled and played at Pin Mechanical, explored the Garage Food Hall, and enjoyed great meals at the Old Spaghetti Factory and BRU Burger (where we had a little fun telling the staff it was Mr. Stroud’s birthdayβ€”he got a milkshake out of it! πŸŽ‰).

We also had a blast at the Rodeo, made new memories, and strengthened our chapter’s bond every step of the way.

A huge thank-you goes out to the Virginia FFA state staff and foundation staff, National FFA staff and volunteers, Abbott Bus Lines, Lafayette Limousine, the Indianapolis Hilton staff, and of course, our amazing parent chaperones for helping make this trip possible.

🌟 Meet the Team Monday! 🌟
Meet Carsyn, our 2025 Historian!

Carsyn has been in FFA for three years, and her favorite part of FFA is all the experiences she gets. πŸ’™πŸ’› She was inspired to become an officer by past FFA officers, and we are so excited to have Carsyn serving our chapter this year!

Help us congratulate Carsyn on her leadership role with SKMS FFA! πŸ‘πŸ

🍎 6th Grade FFA Meeting Fun! 🍎

Last Friday, our 6th grade FFA members gathered for their chapter meeting and enjoyed a sweet caramel apple bar! Students created their own caramel apple nachos with all the best toppings before jumping into a fun team bonding challenge.

For the activity, students lined up in two teams and raced to pass a Starburst using only spoons β€” testing their teamwork, focus, and communication skills!

We love seeing our newest members learning to work together while having a great time! πŸ’™πŸ’›
