So, I am reflecting on my first experience as "Prof Doody" teaching the Strategic HR Management Class as part of the Department of Business at Elizabethtown College. I recognize however that no man or woman is an island and it would be remiss of me not to thank my former senior international colleagues and friends from around the globe, incl. Australia, China, Russia, Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, the UK and the US, who selflessly and gladly volunteered their personal time to "give back" to the students and share their perspectives of HR as a strategic business partner. “Finding Your Voice: Sharing Women’s experiences in the Journey of Leadership” speaks to Genise Wade, Vice President of Human Resources for the Specialist Radio Frequency business unit of Ultra Electronics.
It was very good to reconnect with Genise having worked together across the seas some 10 years earlier. I knew very little about her journey into leadership, so this was a very interesting conversation for me, hearing how she did things in her own way from starting work at the age of 19, falling in love with the field of HR, earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management and Marketing and then her Masters in HR Management while working and being a mum!!
Genise shares a story of perseverance, determination, sheer hard work and lifelong learning pushing herself out of her comfort zone to learn and grow.
I invite you to make yourself a cup of tea or coffee, or something stronger, find a quiet spot and listen in for 25 minutes of great conversation as Genise shares her tips for success!

“Finding Your Voice: Sharing Women’s Experiences in the Journey of Leadership” meets Toya Lawson, Partner at Bridge Partners, a minority-owned Executive Search firm specializing in diversifying C-Suites and Boards.

Through a very engaging 40 minutes, Toya shares with me her career journey from her early childhood to the amazing work that she is doing now with Bridge Partners. It is inspirational to hear her tips for success – how she is very intentional in setting goals to achieve balance of mind, body and spirit, discipline in juggling her priorities and while practicing self-care and her strong belief instilled in her that she could do anything she wanted to do.
