V E R M O N T 🌲💫❄️
We made it a priority this year to coordinate a few weekend trips to immerse our kids (and ourselves) in an experiential learning process, focused on the history, culture and unique attributes of the particular destination ... Last weekend we had the most lovely time in Vermont.
We arrived on a Friday evening to a cozy chalet, and to our wonderful surprise we entered into a full-on Winter snow fall. That evening we did our first “Lantern walk” - where the kids made their own paper lanterns and marched outside at night marking the end of harvest and the beginning of winter (shorter days/longer nights). We also visited the historic Trapp Family Lodge and did a tour/hike of their maple/sugar plantation during a blustery snowfall. The hike eventually took us to a beautiful Sugarhouse where we learned how they make Maple Syrup! We also got to go to the ice cream factory and learn how they make their ice cream (and hear about Ben and Jerry’s commitment to the environment and helping impoverished communities). The tour ended with a yummy ice cream tasting, which the kids loved 😋 We also gathered around the fire place for a show and tell night. It’s always time well spent to see the kids practice public speaking and support them along the way. We really had a special time in Vermont. And the kids gained experiences that they will have with them forever. ❤️❤️❤️ Claudette Bailon Christine Martinez Ocasio-Hampton

This weekend marked a very special time for ... it was our very first Step Up Ceremony and it was all that we had hoped for and more. Our kids had a wonderful time... they worked hard and were very proud of themselves ... and we all felt the love of our village. .mar

So Jeannie created this lovely little nook for the kids, and I gotta say I am inspired to create one, especially for our quiet Sundays...
Today we are all just hanging out at home... no tv, no music, no IPads... NADA!
And I LOVE days like this...
Has anyone else created any reading spaces for themselves or their kiddos?
