EnRoute Consulting was established to inform and counsel the increasing number of young people opting to take a gap year before, during or after college. EnRoute’s services range from formal consulting to parent information sessions to casual chats on the phone with students.

Thank you donnacarpenter for hosting the most lovely event to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the The Swimming Hole - it was not only a toast to the Swimming Hole itself, but also a celebration of community, shared memories and Jake Burton Carpenter’s commitment to wellbeing in Stowe.

The afternoon had me reminiscing about how much of a through-line TSH has been for our family. I went into labor at the Swimming Hole (swimming laps) and that same baby took her first swim lessons, started riding the slide and now works out in the gym at TSH.

We are very lucky to have the Swimming Hole as a community resource- thanks to the whole team there who makes it possible! 🌊

It’s not uncommon for EnRoute students to experiment with flying on their gap year- some want to work in aviation or put hours towards their pilot’s license. Zadie literally BUILT a plane on her gap year!

She and her dad spent several years designing and building a plane - a few months ago they tightened the final rivets and took to the sky! Zadie spent some of the summer gaining new pilot certifications in backcountry flying and wants to continue building new skills as a pilot (including aerial stunts!). This was only one slice of an incredible year that also included an art residency, underwater field work in Mexico and a horse trek in Mongolia. 🤩

It’s the summer after your gap year and you are probably feeling nostalgic already. Processing all that you experienced is important to closing the loop on this formative period. Enter: journaling ✍️

I know many of you have been journaling throughout your gap time - these prompts can be super helpful begin another journal entry. If you haven’t written one word about your gap time, that’s totally fine. These prompts can still help you reflect on what your gap year has meant for you and what it can mean as you move into your next chapter. Grab a pen and paper (and some tea or coffee) go somewhere relaxing (suggestions: by a flowing stream, in a hammock, in a plush chair) and enjoy some reflection time! 📖
