Our Traverse team headed to the Portland area to explore this obstacle course. Traverse is the 2nd phase of Summit's continuum of care and is designed for students who are ready to step down from a higher level of care.

The weekly schedule at Traverse is intentionally designed to mirror life in non-therapeutic settings. Weekends feature “front-country” activities in nearby communities like Portland, ME.

Check out our chicks! What a super cool science project! Our chicks go from fertilized egg to the little fluff balls you see here! They are nurtured and cared for by our students and staff and they are doing great!

Our blended learning classrooms here at Summit Achievement allow students to learn at their own pace and collaborate on projects like hatching chicks! What better example of hands-on project-based learning is there?

While over 91% of our students leave our continuum and go to a lower level of care, 100% of our chickens will step down to a free-range farm in western Maine owned by Nichol Ernst, Summit's co-owner, CEO and Clinical Director.

There, they will be free-range and lay eggs, which will be shared with our staff and their families. Nothing like farm-fresh eggs!

Summit's campus offers so many opportunities for learning and growth! And the kitchen is one of those opportunities where students participate in meal planning, prep, and cooking nutritious, well-rounded meals with wholesome ingredients.

Summit Achievement's campus has been a buzz of activity lately! And it looks beautiful in full bloom. Students took part in Field Day - they had a blast playing wiffle ball and stepping into the Marshmallow Challenge (it's a lot harder than it looks!)

Oh, and we are raising chicks! More on that soon, when you will be introduced to the fluffy crew being well taken care of by our students. For now, you can see how the scarecrow "Skibidi Disco Owl," made and named by the students, stands guard over the coop!

Land ho! Our Traverse students headed out on a Portland, ME harbor tour to see the sights out on the water. Maine's iconic lighthouses dot the landscape.

Traverse, the second phase of Summit Achievements' continuum of care, is our transitional phase. In Traverse, we support students and prepare them to step down to a lower level of care and integrate community-based activities.

New blog post alert! "The True Cost of Putting Off Residential Treatment." Check out the link in bio to learn how Summit Achievement can help.

When your child is struggling with mental health challenges, the recommendation for residential treatment can feel like a physical blow. As a parent, in an instant, your world shifts.

It is completely natural to hesitate. You might tell yourself, “Let’s just try one more month of outpatient therapy,” or “If we can just get through this school semester, things will calm down.”

This mindset doesn’t come from a place of avoidance; it comes from a place of profound love and fear. It feels safer to keep them home where you can watch over them. But delaying residential care rarely keeps things stable. Instead, it compounds the issues, both financially and emotionally, for the whole family.

Our guides do so much for and with our students. Their responsibilities are many, and they take them seriously. They supervise, hold boundaries, mentor, instruct, and, yes, simply have fun with our students.

What's cookin'? As part of the schedule in Venture, when students are on expo they will set up camp, including their sleeping shelters, kitchen, etc., and then cook dinner.

Looks like a delicious pasta meal awaits this group!

Lot's of people ask what a typical day looks like on expo. A part of the structure on expo, students take part in a therapeutic group session. When this takes place around the campfire by the lake, well, it's pretty special.

In Venture, every Thursday, students pack up and head out on three-night, four-day expeditions. The expo experiences, such as hiking, backpacking, or canoeing, build confidence, interrupt self-defeating patterns, and give students the chance to practice developing skills in real time.
