We tend to picture anxiety one way.
The student who says they’re worried. The one who talks about their fears.
But that’s not usually what it looks like in real life.
It looks like shutting down.
Getting frustrated quickly.
Avoiding work.
Needing constant reassurance.
Or acting in ways that seem off, but are really communication.
This poster helps shift how we see those moments.
Instead of asking, “What’s wrong with this behavior?”
It helps us ask, “What might this student be feeling right now?”
Teachers and counselors use this as a quick reminder in planning spaces, calm corners, or team conversations to better understand what’s underneath the behavior.
Because when we recognize anxiety for what it is, our response changes too.
