Matthew Reed-Brown and Arlo Tucker will present “Ballade, Pastorale, and Dance“ on October 27th at 7:30pm in von der Mehden Recital Hall.

This recital will include a variety of flute and horn solo pieces accompanied by Elisabeth Tomczyk. The second half of the recital will feature Ballade, Pastorale, and Dance by Eric Ewazen, an exciting three-movement chamber piece of contrasting themes and moods.

On October 25th Jenny Zhao will present “My Favorite Things“ at 6pm in von der Mehden Recital Hall.

This recital will showcase a variety of percussion repertoire, including works by Golovko, Wood, Becker, and more. The theme is intended to honor Zhao’s favorite musical aspects, styles, and people from her time at UConn.

Join the UConn saxophone studio on October 26th at 7:30pm for an intercollegiate collaboration of music as the University of Massachusetts saxophone studio joins forces with UConn’s saxophonists to showcase the versatility of the instrument.

Featuring various unaccompanied solo works, multiple selections for quartet, the concert will conclude with a 30-member saxophone choir performing Edvard Grieg’s Holberg Suite.

Join us in von der Mehden Recital Hall on October 15th at 7:30pm for a shared concert with Symphonic Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band!

Symphonic Wind Ensemble's program, "Self-Reflection", begins their four-concert series by looking inward. Through works by Steven Bryant, Katahj Copley, Florence Price, and James David, the program explores identity, joy, culture, perspective, and reflection—asking how our experiences shape the ways we see ourselves, others, and the world around us.

Symphonic Band's program, "Preview", will feature works by Randall D. Standridge, Yikiko Nishimura, and Brant Karrick.

Coming up on Friday, October 23rd: UConn Piano Day 2026!

Join us for a day full of masterclasses and presentations by UConn faculty Dr. Janie Cole and Chelsea Thaler as well as guest artists Jeremy Denk and Vadim Neselovskyi. The day will conclude with a solo concert by Jeremy Denk at 7:30pm in von der Mehden Recital Hall.

We invite students who are applying to UConn to join us in Storrs at Fall Visit Days on October 10th and October 25th!

In addition to campus tours and information sessions about admissions, UConn Music will be offering a presentation about our degrees, program structure, audition tips, careers, and alumni success. The Music Department presentation will begin at 10:30am in von der Mehden Recital Hall and move to Music Building 102 at 10:55am. Students will also have the opportunity to hear student performers, ask questions, meet our faculty, and tour the School of Fine Arts facilities.
