UConn Center for Career Development We provide active career coaching assistance to our students on all career related issues, from choice of major to successful job placement.

The Center for Career Development at the University of Connecticut is dedicated to excellence through offering the highest levels of service to our students, across all schools, colleges, campuses, and disciplines. We support the intellectual growth of our students by providing programs and experiences that promote self-awareness and engagement as they identify a course of study and pursue opportunities to become contributing members of the state, national, and world communities. Through partnership with employers, alumni, faculty, and staff, we connect students to quality career development resources, internships, experiential learning, and post-graduate opportunities.

Did you know that you should be tailoring your resume for each position you apply to? Every job description includes key skills, experiences, and qualities that they will be looking for when reviewing your materials. Make sure to highlight points specific to the application to give yourself the best chance at securing an interview!

Is the career center open everyday?
Nope! The Career Center, located in the Wilbur Cross Building, is open during the work week from M-F.

Can Career Coaches help me edit my resume?
Yes! you can book a resume review with a career coach using your account on 12Twenty.

Do Career Coaches only help with resumes?
Nope! They can also help with other materials like cover letters, or they could even do a mock interview with you. They can also help you with networking, negotiating job offers, and even exploring graduate school options.

Can I reserve an appointment to meet with a career coach?
Yes! You can reserve your appointment through 12Twenty.

Do I need an appointment to use the headshot machine?
Nope! You can walk up and use the Iris headshot photo booth any time that the Career Center is open.

Are there more resources on the website?
Yes! There are tons of helpful resources such as the Resume/Cover Letter, LinkedIn, and Interview Preparation guide, all available at career.uconn.edu.

Do I need to pay to use the career center?
Nope! The career center, it’s resources, and its events are all free to access for UConn students.

Can I still access these resources after I graduate?
Yes! Alumni can still utilize career resources for 3 years after graduation, and the website remains publicly available no matter how long it’s been since you were a UConn student!

Parents, have you heard of a co-op? 🤔

A co-op is an opportunity for students to step out of the classroom and into a full-time, paid professional role during the semester. These experiences help students build real-world skills, gain valuable experience, and become more competitive in the job market before they graduate.

If your student is exploring career options, we encourage them to learn more by attending our Co-op Drop-In Hours:

In celebration of Women's History Month, join us for the Women in the Workforce: Employer Insights & Career Pathways Panel.
