Two months ago, UConn Formula SAE set a new bar for Formula Student teams. Building two cars is a massive challenge. Budgetary strain, time allocation, and splitting a single team’s focus across two separate vehicles made it a monumental task. Many thought it was impossible, but our team never wavered.

At our two competitions in Michigan, we did exactly that. Our results in both the Internal Combustion (IC) and Electric Vehicle (EV) categories speak louder than words ever could.
We are proud to share that Connecticut’s flagship university is the only FSAE team in the country to place in the top 5 in both the IC and EV categories, earning us numbers 4 and 5 for next season.

This achievement simply wouldn’t have been possible without your support, and we are deeply grateful for your continued commitment.

After a historic EV competition, we are proud to announce that UConn’s CT-17 EV has placed 5th overall at FSAE Michigan. Being that we are only a second year team, this competition threw it’s fair share of challenges at us, but we persevered through them, and our results speak for themselves.

7th Endurance
5th Autocross
4th Skidpad
17th Acceleration
4th Efficiency
5th Business Presentation
5th Cost Presentation

5th Overall.

This is the culmination of many late nights and early mornings at the shop, and months of testing and practicing to unleash the car’s full potential.

To our families, friends, faculty, sponsors, team members, and UConn Nation, thank you for your unwavering support. We are incredibly proud to represent the University of Connecticut on the track at both IC and EV Competition. Go Huskies!!

Day 5 was historic, so historic that the media team took a day off to celebrate.

First things first, UConn finished endurance for the second year in a row, placing 7th as a second year team. Our CT-17 EV was driven by Jack Hixson and Finn Spooner.

Finishing endurance, specifically EV endurance is an intimidating challenge. Only 29 of the 127 registered teams finished endurance this year. From sunrise to the checkered flag there was a lot of nail biting, tune changing, corner balancing and Redbull drinking. The team untied into what felt like one entity, prepping the vehicle to its maximum capacity and finally handed the helmets to our beloved drivers who braved the challenge and earned us 7th.

Day 5 of the 2026 EV competition will forever be a cherished memory for our whole paddock and a brag-worthy story for our supporters at home. We thank every contributor for building yet another EV that got through endurance without breaking a sweat.

Huskies forever.

UConn’s EV has successfully completed Autocross, Skidpad, and Accel marking the first time in history that all three pre-endurance events were finished. Advancing through EV comp and hitting each event is a formidable challenge; today served as a testament to the resilience and reliability of the team, exemplifying the unity that we are so proud of.

Below are our projected results:

5th in Autocross, driven by Jack Hixson and Finn Spooner

4th in Skidpad, driven by Aidan Martzloff and Keenan Spooner

17th in Accel, driven by Aidan Martzloff and Nick Pujos

Finishing the first three events is an unforgettable achievement for any team, and we thank all of our supporters for helping us accomplish this.

Stay tuned, tomorrow is the big one 🏎️

After a rigorous day of prep, we are excited to share that we have successfully passed EV active, tilt and rain. With these major milestones met, the team eagerly awaits tomorrow which will begin with our first obstacle, brake test, with the latter portion of the day being stacked with Acceleration, Skidpad, and Autocross. We’re itching to begin racing, stay tuned for more updates. Go Huskies!
