This weekend UConn Dairy Club held its 76th annual Dairy Show! Congratulations to everyone who participated, the hard work you put in these past few months definitely paid off! Special shout out to President Becca Syme who was our Grand Champion, as well as Gabby Deslauriers who was our Reserve Champion. Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time to help make this day a huge success, this event wouldn’t be possible without your support.

With our MOOConn Basketball themed Dairy Show only three days away, showman are putting the final touches on their heifers. In the last few weeks before show, members work to get their animals walking at a slow show pace, set up their feet quickly, and get them looking their best by washing and clipping! Be sure to support your showmen the Saturday starting at 11:00 am!

Here is our schedule for show day! Please remember that start times are subject to change based on the overall pace of the show. Showmen, please look at the schedule tab on the practice spreadsheet to confirm what class you are in, and what time you should arrive to the CRU to get your heifer ready. We can’t wait to see you there!

On Sunday, we had our practice show and clipping demonstration to prepare for our Dairy Show on April 11th. Thank you to Emily Syme for being our practice judge, as well as Becca Syme for teaching members how to clip. We greatly appreciate you taking the time to help our showmen!

This weekend, Dairy Club members were hard at working helping out with UConn 4H’s annual beef and dairy day! Members ran jeopardy and taught participants how to use a weight tape, as well as sold club merch and got animals ready for the afternoon. Dairy Club alum Mike Wolf and president Becca Syme shared their knowledge of fitting by running clipping demonstrations. Thank you to everyone who helped out!

Our annual Clipping Demonstration will take place on Sunday, March 29th at 11:00 am at the Cattle Resource Unit (at the same time and location as the practice show). Please attend this workshop to learn clipping technique and how to get your heifer ready for show day!
