UConn ACDA - Student Chapter

Today, UConn Concert Choir had the incredible honor of working with Jonas Rasmussen on two of our pieces for our upcoming concert this Sunday. Then, members of UConn Choirs and UConn ACDA attended a Q&A session where Jonas offered insights about his life as an internationally acclaimed conductor, director, composer, and creator.

We are in awe of this unbelievable experience, endless thanks to Jonas for meeting with us via zoom, all the way from Denmark, in spite of the severe time difference!

Our thanks to Dr. Voth for her flexibility with these most valuable final rehearsals before our concert, and endless thanks to our ACDA board and advisors who have helped this happen.

The most special part of the Envision conference was surprising our very own Dr. Spillane with an award created in his honor. He’s the most deserving person to receive this award and we’re so honored to have given this to him! Thank you to ACDA EAST for your work in the creation of this award and to all those involved in the special moment of presenting it. Dr. Spillane’s accomplishments within ACDA are countless, and his impact is always accompanied by his huge heart and vibrant smile!! We love you and are so blessed to have you!! 💙

UConn ACDA had an absolute blast at the Envision Conference this past week!! We learned, laughed, sung and our hearts were filled with joy 💙💙

Thanks to everyone who came to our Valentines themed reading session extravaganza! Special thank you to our students conductors for leading some pieces, Alumni Emmy Dell’Orfano for accompanying, Alumni Jack Zaino for sending his wonderful arrangement of “Kiss Me”, and our wonderful UConn ACDA advisors and professors Dr. Jamie Spillane, Dr. Cara Bernard, and Dr. Ellen Gilson Voth for their guidance and support for this event and all others!

We feel so lucky to have such an amazing collegiate chapter who continue to show up to all events! We love you! 💕💌

We had a wonderful time yesterday at ACDA Emerging Professionals Conference!! We learned so much from our amazing guest speakers and we’re so grateful for our wonderful board who helped make this event happen!! Here’s to a new semester!! 💙💙💙

Tonight, we had the privilege to talk all things vocal with Kayla Gautereaux!! Thank you for educating us on the science of the voice and effective teaching styles! 😊😊

We have a DOUBLE event next Wednesday October 22nd at 6pm!! We have an important CT-ACDA Conference Info Session for all of our members who have registered for the conference!!! Then, we have our guest speaker Kayla who will educate us on vocal techniques and differentiated learning! 😊

We LOVED having Vince speak about all things barbershop, middle school choir, and being a good educator!! Thank you so much for all of your expertise!! 😊😊
