Star Spangled Spectacular Parade 2026! Our high school band did a great job! Thank you to everyone for the pictures and videos!

Today, the SLHS Marching Band marched in the Star Spangled Spectacular Parade! Approximately 50 of the 26-27 High School Band Members came together and marched through the parade!! If you have pictures - please share in the comments! We'd love to have a few!!

A big thank you to Storm Lake Fareway for donating water to the kids on the hot day, Storm Lake Times Pilot for the recording, and for all of the volunteers and community members for their support! We can't do it without you!!

Our High School Music Department had a fantastic day at contest today!! The 3 busses of kids performed at Sioux City North High School for a rating of I (Superior) II (Excellent), III (Good), IV, or V (I is the best and most difficult to obtain). In total, 4/5 of the groups earned straight I's (or, a I from all 3 judges)! Here are the scores:

JV Mixed Choir: II, II, II
Treble Choir: I, I, I
Bass Choir: I, I, I
Varsity Mixed Choir: I, I, I
Band: I, I, I

Special shout-out to the Treble Choir, who earned a perfect ballot from 1 judge!!
All of the groups performed incredibly well, and showed a lot of growth through the whole season! Thank you to all the parents who came along to chaperone; parents who attended to support; and the Alta-Aurelia Band Directors, Sioux City North Band Directors, and Sibley Ocheyedan Band Directors for helping to provide some misplaced band equipment!

This past weekend 19 of our music seniors went on our annual music department senior trip! This Year, we traveled to Omaha, Nebraska! The kids (and adults) had a great time visiting the Henry Doorly Zoo, Joslyn Art Museum, Mamma Mia in the Orphuem, Dial "M" for Murder (a fun murder mystery play), the Bob Kerry Pedestrian Bridge, and more. Thank you to the SL Music Boosters and everyone who helps support our music department at Storm Lake!
