The Storm Lake Early Childhood Programs have been working to consider what is developmentally appropriate educational opportunities for our youngest learners. As we have researched, and considered what the Iowa Department of Education is recommending, we feel that the Khan Academy Kids App and Educational Resources will provide your child with the basis for getting what they need educationally during this time. On this platform there are opportunities to work on PK-Grade 1 skills. Children will have access to books, videos, creation stations, Literacy, Math, and Logic. This does not replace their time needed for playing, interacting with families, but provides them with additional resources to continue their learning.

If you do not have access to a device such as an iPhone, and iPad, a Chromebook, Amazon device, or an Android Device, Khan Academy Kids has also created printable materials from their program. These materials will be delivered in the mail on a weekly basis. Enclosed you will find two weeks of instructional materials directly from Khan Academy Kids. Use these as they work best for you and your family. We know that your child is working and learning with you and your family each day throughout this time. Please know that we miss them and look forward to the day in which we are able to see you and your children again!

Los programas para la primera infancia de Storm Lake han estado trabajando para considerar cuáles son las oportunidades educativas apropiadas para el desarrollo de nuestros alumnos más pequeños. A medida que investigamos y consideramos lo que recomienda el Departamento de Educación de Iowa, creemos que la aplicación Khan Academy Kids y los recursos educativos proporcionarán a su hijo la base para obtener lo que necesitan educativamente durante este tiempo.
