The Student Association of Social Workers (SASW) is hosting a fundraiser at Pizza Ranch tonight. SASW members staff and serve in Jane”a Closet and use funds raised for many projects (service oriented) including supporting needs of Jane”s. Drive thru and dine in purchases at Pizza Rabch from 5PM-8 PM help with our fundraising! See you tonight for PIZZA!

Tillie Heithoff, class of 2021, is wrapping up classes to complete her MSW degree. She called with BIG news today!!! She passed her LMSW test!!! In addition, she accepted a job with her internship placement, Orchard Place, as a school based therapist! Welcome to the field, Tillie! We are just bustin’ with Beaver Pride over here!!!

SASW participated in Fresh Check day on campus this week. We engaged with students in a Jenga game- Myths and Facts about Su***de and encouraged students to participate filling our 100 reasons to stay board.

Time to celebrate another social worker! Elizabeth Jones is a Substance Abuse Counselor with New Opportunities. She’s also a BVU alum and one of the students from my first graduating class. Elizabeth completed her practicum with New Opportunities and they were so impressed by her they hired her right after graduation! Happy Social Work Month!!

Please help us welcome our newest Community Service Officer, Diane Yang.

CSO Yang will begin her career with the Storm Lake Police Department today.

Diane was born in Laos and moved to the United States at a young age. She holds a bachelor’s degree in social work from California State University in Fresno. Diane previously worked at the United Community Health Center in Storm Lake as an office manager and interpreter. She speaks both Hmong and English and has vast experience in community outreach. Diane is married with three children. Her seven-year-old aspires to be a police officer, but only if she can wear a dress😊

La CSO Yang comenzará hoy su carrera en el Departamento de Policía. Diane nació en Laos y se mudó a los Estados Unidos a una edad temprana. Tiene una licenciatura en trabajo social de la Universidad Estatal de California en Fresno. Diane trabajó anteriormente en United Community Health Center en Storm Lake como gerente de oficina e intérprete. Habla Hmong e Inglés y tiene una vasta experiencia en alcance comunitario. Diana está casada y tiene tres hijos. Su hija de siete años aspira a ser policía, pero solo si puede usar un vestido😊
