It’s hard to believe, but we are just one week away from celebrating the incredible accomplishments of our latest cohort! 🎓✨

Join us next week on Friday, May 15th, 2026, at the Bauman Center on the Stony Brook University campus to celebrate the graduation of our incredible trainees. Better communication leads to better advocacy, and our LEND cohort recently learned from the best at the Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science!

Our trainees learned how to share their valuable research more effectively and learned about improvisational skills and evidence-based communication.

The annual research exposition was a massive success! Our trainees brought together a wide array of perspectives and presented their amazing quality improvement projects!

Our trainees tackled critical gaps in care by investigating clinical risks and posing improvements such as practical toolkits and even wayfinding technology! Additionally, healthcare equity was an overarching theme throughout the projects; our trainees tackled topics like autonomy in decision-making and neurotypical biases in research.

From health barriers to sensory integration, our trainees and their projects reflect our commitment to improving the lives of individuals with neurodevelopmental disabilities.

Congratulations to all our presenters on their hard work and dedication! We are so proud of this cohort and the impact they are making!

Exploring the evolution of disability rights and the lived experiences of those who came before us is a vital part of our mission, and understanding this history allows us to be better advocates and providers today.

The Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) Center at Stony Brook University is recruiting! LEND is an HRSA-funded program focused on interdisciplinary training for better care for those with autism spectrum disorder and other neurodevelopmental disabilities.

As a trainee, you have the opportunity to work with field experts, learn from other disciplines, and train with the Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science and the Disability Leadership Institute throughout the year.
