Stony Brook Campus CERT

We are a group of volunteers who are trained in first aid, fire suppression, search & rescue, & more Visit us at www.sbccert.org!

The Campus Community Emergency Response Team (C-CERT) Program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in disaster response skills, such as fire safety and suppression, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, C-CERT members can assist othe

rs on their campus or neighboring community following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help. C-CERT members also support community emergency response by taking a more active role in emergency preparedness projects. Stony Brook C-CERT is a dedicated group of students, faculty and staff trained in emergency response and management. Many of our members are also EMTs, Paramedics, firefighters and law enforcement officers. Stony Brook University C-CERT is a collaboration between the Office of Emergency Management and Division of Campus Residences (Student Affairs). Stony Brook C-CERT is also an official Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) registered CERT program.

It’s that time of year again! Looking to leave your mark on campus and the community? Come check out SB C-CERT this Friday during the involvement fair at SAC plaza, from 3-5pm, and learn how you can help make a difference as a first responder! We will also be hosting information sessions on 9/9 and 9/15 for those interested in joining our team. We’d love to see you there!

Hey, Seawolves!
Are you interested in emergency medical services (EMT), first aid treatment, first responder training, and more? Then come check out the Stony Brook Campus Community Emergency Response Team (SBC-CERT)! We participate in a variety of hands on training and activities ranging from police work where we partner with the University Police Department (UPD) to provide emergency care to firefighting and search and rescue operations.
We will be having two informational sessions on September 8th and September 18th at 7PM EST on Zoom.
