🌟The school year is winding down and open shop sessions are now paused for the summer... but how exciting to see so many great projects completed this year!

Many thanks to Terry and Ann for sharing their experience and some photos.

"We had such a great time at our open shop sessions and couldn’t have completed our projects without Eric’s guidance and expertise. He is so patient and knowledgeable and gave us the confidence to keep going.

The tv console and matching shelving above were built with walnut wood.

The dining room table top was from birch given to us by our excellent builder.

We look forward to coming up with more projects for next season."

🌊Meet guest speaker Dwight Staples! Dwight will be joining us two weeks from today for Navigating the Working Waterfront, our final kayak/outdoor safety class of the season. With his years of fishing and boat-building experience, Dwight is offering valuable insight about how kayakers can navigate around commercial vessels.

About Dwight: Dwight Staples is 43 years old, father to 3 beautiful children, and married to his high school sweetheart for 24 years! He is a boat builder by trade and currently works at Oceanville Boatworks. He was also a sternman and then captain on a lobster vessel for several years. When off the water, he is a church Elder, a board member of Island Health and Wellness Foundation, an ambassador of Op**te Free Island Project, and an EMT with Memorial Ambulance Corps. He likes to serve his community any way he can and spend time with his kids and beautiful wife!

We're so grateful to have him on board!

🦆Duck, duck... goose! We kicked off a glorious weekend with a bluebird house and model duck workshop for Island Heritage Trust’s Wings, Waves, and Woods festival. One participant got extra crafty with the cattails and made an impressive goose. It's always fun seeing everyone's creations!

🎼Last chance to sign up! Ukulele lessons with singer-songwriter Abby Litman start this Wednesday. Have you ever wanted to learn an instrument? By the end of the course, you'll be able to search up chords to your favorite songs and play ukulele on your own!

Abby Litman is a multi instrumentalist and folk singer songwriter based in Stonington. She got her BA in Popular Music Performance from the Thornton School of Music and has released original music and spent time on tour. She also leads the Deer Isle-Stonington Community Chorus and works with Mariner's Soar After School.
