Today was the perfect day for a picnic lunch in Stoddard!

The students at James Faulkner Elementary School rocked the Kids Heart Challenge! They raised $1,069.75 for the American Heart Association to help people with special hearts. Thank you to those who contributed to this important cause.

Families, communities and schools are critical links in providing the foundation for cardiovascular wellness. Your support and participation in the Kids Heart Challenge makes a tremendous impact in helping millions of Americans through increased awareness of cardiovascular disease, lifesaving scientific research and critically needed education efforts.

Immediate Openings: The Stoddard School Board is seeking a Treasurer and School Board Secretary.

School Board meetings are typically held the second Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m. at James Faulkner Elementary School. Additional meetings may include budget workshops during the months of December and January. These are paid positions:
Stoddard Treasurer = $1,000
Stoddard Board Secretary = $25/hour

The Book Pals program, a long-standing collaboration between JFES and the Friends of the Davis Public Library, recently celebrated its culminating event. Third through fifth graders have been exchanging letters with their assigned adult pals from throughout the Stoddard community. Pals were paired based on common interests and read a book together selected by the student. At Book Pals night, pairs met in person for intergenerational conversations about their shared readings. We are proud of our students who lead thoughtful discussions with the community members they have corresponded with for the past few weeks.

Many thanks to librarian, Inga Dellea for tracking down all of the books, thanks to to teachers Maggie Forrestall and Grace Mauer for planning, and special thanks to Angel Nicoletti and the Friends of the Davis Public Library for sponsoring this event and championing a love of reading and community!
