The SUSD Family Resource Center hosted the 3rd Annual Family Empowerment Kick-Off & Conference. Our community gathered to enjoy live music, delicious food, resource booths, special recognitions, and inspiring student performances.

Our 3rd Annual SUSD Family Movie Night is almost here!

After another amazing turnout last year, we’re excited to bring SUSD families back together for one of our favorite traditions!

Join us September 19 at Banner Island Ballpark for a FREE night featuring Disney’s Moana 2, free popcorn, prizes, and a spectacular fireworks show!

Doors open at 6:00 PM
Kickoff at 6:30 PM

👏👏👏Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Newcomer Fair Saturday at Franklin High School!

Stockton Unified School District’s Language Development Office welcomed Newcomer Multilingual Learners and their families for a free event filled with support, connection, and fun.

Here is a look back at what took place:

Resource Booths: Attendees connected with valuable district and community resource booths.

Training Sessions: Participants attended two informative training sessions to help support student success.

Keynote Speaker: Featured guest speaker
Dr. Herrera shared valuable insights with attendees.

Guests enjoyed delicious snacks and lunch.

Melissa Dougherty/Special Education Administrator

Melissa “Missy” Dougherty serves as a Special Education Administrator with Stockton Unified School District. She brings more than 25 years of experience in special education, including 13 years as a teacher and 12 years as a Program Specialist and SELPA Program Specialist for Stockton Unified. Throughout her career, she has supported students from birth through age 22 across a variety of special education programs and services. She is passionate about inclusive practices, supporting students with disabilities, and building strong systems that help students, families, and staff thrive.

Emily Brown/ Administrator of Early Childhood Education & School Readiness.

Emily Brown serves as the Administrator of Early Childhood Education and School Readiness for Stockton Unified School District, bringing more than 20 years of experience in education and a strong background in instructional and program leadership. Throughout her career, she has served as a classroom teacher, site program specialist, ELA curriculum specialist, and early childhood education leader. Her expertise includes early childhood education, early literacy, curriculum and instructional leadership, professional learning, program development, and data-informed continuous improvement. Emily is deeply committed to ensuring every child has access to high-quality, developmentally appropriate learning experiences and that educators and families have the support needed to help children thrive.

Shout-Out to Our New SUSD Administrators!
Join us in welcoming Angela Pilcher, SUSD’s new ECE Senior Program Specialist!

We’re excited to have Angela in this leadership role as we continue working together to support our students, families, and staff.

Starting her 26th year with Stockton Unified School District, Angela Pilcher currently serves as an Early Childhood Education Senior Program Specialist, supporting preschool and Universal Transitional Kindergarten (UTK) programs. Her career in education began at Snell’s Pre-Kindergarten School where she developed a passion for nurturing young learners and building strong relationships with children and families. After spending 16 years as a K–8 Mathematics Curriculum Specialist, Angela has come full circle, returning to support the district’s youngest learners and the educators who serve them. She is passionate about developmentally appropriate practices, Conscious Discipline, family engagement, and coaching teachers through curriculum implementation and collaborative teaching.

Welcome to your new role, Angela! We look forward to the great things ahead!

A look back at Tuesday August 25th SUSD Board of Trustees meeting!

The Board recognized Anas Ali from Chavez High School as the Honorary Student Board Member for the evening.

The audience also learned more about the opportunities available to students through Career Technical Education (CTE) and got the first look at our inaugural Heroes of SUSD video, kicking off a new series celebrating the incredible people who make a difference across our district.
