Conservatory faculty are active performers who often collaborate on musical projects. Last spring, Prof. Brittany Trotter (flute) & Prof. Jonathan Latta (percussion) played on Prof. Andrew Conklin’s “Advanced Metrics.” Sound was recorded, mixed & mastered in the on-campus studio by students from the Recording Audio Production class under the supervision of Prof. Andrew Mell.

We're pleased to welcome Shichao Zhang who joins the conservatory faculty as assistant professor of practice in piano for the 2026-27 year. An accomplished performer & educator, Professor Zhang has performed across the globe, his students have been accepted to many prestigious schools of music in the U.S.

Welcome back Raquel Ravaglioli '14! Raquel graduated from Pacific with Bachelor of Music degrees in music therapy & music performance. She'll join the Conservatory this fall as associate professor of practice and coordinator of music therapy & experiential learning. Her 12-month position is supported in part by a grant from Dignity Health.

During Pacific's Cadence of Life symposium last April, students learned from established clinicians about hospice-based music therapy and how to support patients & families through music.

Previously, she served as visiting assistant professor of cello and double bass at Austin Peay State University.

Congratulations to University Artist in Residence Gabriela Lena Frank on winning the 2026 Pulitzer Prize in Music for her composition "Picaflor: A Future Myth." Frank has brought her expertise & multicultural knowledge to Pacific as part of the Inclusive Music Initiative, a partnership launched in fall 2025 between the Gabriela Lena Frank Creative Academy of Music & Pacific’s Conservatory of Music. University Artist in Residence Gabriela Lena Frank awarded 2026 Pulitzer Prize in Music Nationally acclaimed composer Gabriela Lena Frank, who is currently University Artist in Residence at University of the Pacific, has won the 2026 Pulitzer Prize in Music, officials announced Monday.
