Due to shipping delays for new student writers, does anyone have a writer they would like to donate for a student to use for an October theory start? Students are being told the Luminex CSE wil not ship until November.
We are hoping for something newer than a Stentura because of the drivers for the serial to USB adapter. Sometimes those old realtime cables just don’t work. However, the Protege will work.

Big changes are ahead for court reporters in 2025 following the signing of Sunset Bill AB 3252:
1) It allows for reciprocity with the National Verbatim Reporters Association CVR and CVR-S certification. If a hopeful licensee has either certification, they don’t have to take the Board’s skills test, only the two written tests - English and Professional Practice - for licensure.
2) It lowers the pass rate for the skills test from 97.5% to 95%.
3) The Board can now collect emails from licensees to share with the public. This allows consumers to more quickly and efficiently reach court reporters to request transcripts.
4) Licensees must state their name and license number at the beginning of a proceeding. Stating a license number will ensure parties know they have a licensed court reporter reporting and producing a transcript of the proceeding.
