Through class assignments, discussions and visits to the Mable Barron library, our students become enthusiastic readers while learning what kinds of books they connect with. Mrs. Bowling's 6th Graders spend 15 minutes reading silently every day before discussing their books as a class. Yesterday, these Pioneers found a Golden Line: a quote that made them feel or think strongly.

Pioneers can become talented musicians here at Mable Barron! Last Friday, Lincoln Unified music teachers demonstrated the musical instruments our students can play in Band, Choir and Strings classes. Choir and Strings are open to 4th - 6th Graders, while Band is available to 5th - 6th Graders.

Parents and guardians must sign a form for students to take our music elective classes. Forms were sent home with 4th - 6th Graders last Friday. If you have any questions, you may contact the front office.

Our new principal is proud to serve Pioneers this school year! Dr. Leonard Jones joins us as a lifelong Stocktonian and committed educator who values the rich history and love of community we share at Mable Barron.

Dr. Jones grew up in Stockton’s Louis Park area. After graduating high school, he attended Arkansas State University, where he received four degrees, including a Doctorate in Educational Leadership. Dr. Jones began his educational career in Arkansas as an 8th Grade world history teacher before moving back to California. He taught social science classes for five years in San Jose before becoming a student advisor, a dean of students and eventually an assistant principal.

In 2020, Dr. Jones returned to his hometown, serving twice as both an assistant and vice principal at Lincoln High School. Before his second time in the role, Dr. Jones was a principal for Aspire Public Schools. After rejoining the Lincoln family a few years back, he looks forward to leading in his first K-8 administrative role as Mable Barron’s principal.

Dr. Jones is committed to providing the educational leadership he wishes he could have received in his youth. He believes that a principal should be firm but fair, and lead with the heart. Dr. Jones sets high expectations and is happy to help students reach their fullest potential. He looks forward to meeting Pioneer parents and guardians at after school events and morning meetups that will be scheduled throughout the school year.

Dr. Jones’ message to families: “Our goal is growing together.” As our principal, he will support all students, families and community members to help them reach the success they are capable of.

Pioneers find ways to have fun with their friends, rain or shine! Despite the gloomy weather during Field Day last week, students including our 2nd and 3rd Graders enjoyed snacks and activities like bubble-making and temporary tattoos to celebrate the end of the school year.

This was a year full of memorable learning opportunities and bonding opportunities for students in all grade levels. We look forward to welcoming our Pioneers back to school after they enjoy some well deserved time off this summer!

Our 8th Graders have made Mable Barron a wonderful place for students and staff throughout their time here. Last night, we celebrated their academic achievements, inspiring leadership and kindness at the 2026 Promotion Ceremony. 48 students were promoted from the Class of 2026, including 15 who have been at Mable Baron from Kindergarten through 8th Grade.

Congratulations to all our promoting Pioneers who will go on to make many more special memories in high school!

Our campus monitors are the perfect team for Pioneers! Students and their families are always happy to see these essential classified workers on campus during recess and pick-up or drop-off time.

This Classified School Employees Week, we thank Seraphina Davis, Jessica Gagaza, Apryl Kemp, Kelly Leandro and Angelica Mathies for all they do to help make Mable Barron such a friendly, welcoming school for all!

Our music students have made major progress in their technique, tone and skill this year. Mable Barron’s strings classes performed a varied setlist for Pioneer families at our Spring Concert on Tuesday. 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th Graders all had a chance to shine with class songs before joining together to play the “Star Wars” theme!

We love to share our Pioneer Pride with this community! At last week’s Lincoln Unified School District Board of Trustees meeting, students, staff and alumni sang Mable Barron’s school song for our community.
