Our students can become talented musicians here at Lincoln Elementary! Last Friday, Lincoln Unified music teachers demonstrated the musical instruments taught in our Band, Choir and Strings classes. Choir and Strings are open to 4th - 6th Graders, while Band is available to 5th - 6th Graders.

Parents and guardians must sign a form for students to take our music elective classes. Forms were sent home with 4th - 6th Graders last Friday. If you have any questions, you may contact the front office.

Our teachers are excited to work with eager, curious and creative new students this year! Today, Kindergarten and Transitional Kindergarten families visited their classrooms to meet our teaching staff and work on writing and art activities together. We appreciate the support of our Lynx parents and guardians and look forward to seeing students for their first day of school tomorrow, August 6!

We are proud to welcome Shalonda Thomas as our new principal for the 2026-27 school year! Ms. Thomas has experienced a variety of leadership styles throughout her educational career, and prioritizes any approach she can take to help students and staff thrive.

Ms. Thomas spent eight years teaching math in the San Joaquin County Office of Education’s one.Program before accepting her first administrative position as an assistant principal for Modesto City Schools. Last year, she joined the Lincoln Unified family as an assistant principal for Lincoln High School.

Ms. Thomas’ educational experiences have introduced her to students from a variety of backgrounds and cultures. As an educator, Ms. Thomas believes one size does not fit all, and she intends to make sure every student feels supported at school. Though this is her first time overseeing K-6 education as an administrator, she recognizes that experience is an excellent teacher, and she is excited to work alongside teachers and parents to provide for our students.

In her first month at Lincoln Elementary, Ms. Thomas has been impressed with the ideas her fellow staff members present to her, and she values the support of this community. She values Lincoln Unified as a district where learning opportunities are available for everyone, and is proud to bring her inclusive educational values to Lynx families this year.

Ms. Thomas wants parents and guardians to know that she will maintain everything positive about Lincoln Elementary while working alongside families and staff to address any issues that may arise. She wants every Lynx to be included in making this school a caring educational space for students, and is always willing to speak with parents and guardians so they can be active participants in their child’s education.

Music students are finishing off the school year by showing us all the ways they've improved their skills. During last week's Spring Concerts, Lynxes raised their voices and played their instruments with confidence and capability. Our student musicians of all experience levels are proving how much can be achieved if you put your mind to it!

Dances from around the world bring our students and staff together at the Lincoln Elementary Spring Festival. Last Friday, our annual Lynx tradition returned with an exciting dance routine from every grade. We love to see so many supportive families enjoying our students' enthusiasm, talent and diversity through performances of "Ballin' the Jack," traditional Greek dancing, and even the Chicken Dance!

Our Lynxes saw an incredible transformation showcasing the wonder of science! Yesterday, Mrs. Ferry’s Kindergarten class said goodbye to some beautiful butterflies that were released into the wild. Our students observed each phase of the butterflies’ life cycle, first watching them crawl around as caterpillars before forming chrysalis and eventually emerging with wings ready to fly.

Lynxes are gaining an early appreciation for music with some help from our friends at Zulu Dance Foundation! Today, preschool students had their third dance lesson this spring. Our youngest learners practiced active listening by dancing to music and freezing in place when a song stopped. Each preschooler even had the chance to show off some solo moves for their class!

Lincoln Elementary families joined us for a night full of wonder and awe at the Wickedly Oz-Some Talent Show! Students performed songs, dance routines, magic tricks and more acts inspired by "The Wizard of Oz," "Wicked," and "The Wiz." We'd like to thank everyone who made last night's event possible, including Ms. Waiters for all her hard work helping students develop their talents here on campus!
