6th Graders became engineers, artists and problem solvers while building kites from simple materials and lots of teamwork! This week, our Dolphins practiced engineering and geometry by constructing tetrahedrons before connecting them to larger kite designs. Ms. Wise's classroom was full of creativity, collaboration and excitement as these 6th Graders prepared to fly their kites through the air.
We are proud of all the hard work and curiosity shown by Dolphins this school year, and we look forward to seeing new and returning students next semester!

The Don Riggio Dance Festival and Art Show is a joyful celebration of our students' talents and a showcase of cultures from around the world. On Wednesday, Dolphins from every grade level performed a unique dance routine before all students and staff danced to the Macarena together. This spring tradition was also an opportunity to honor our PTSA Service Award Winners.
We appreciate all the enthusiastic and supportive families who stopped by to celebrate our love of the visual and performing arts!

The countdown continues! Kindergartners are enjoying their springtime activities for the ABC End of Year Countdown, with something special based on a letter of the alphabet planned for each day. So far, our students have observed earthworms, enjoyed math games with their friends on the blacktop, and even paid a visit to the California State Railroad Museum in Old Sacramento.

Don Riggio students find exciting new ways to work with Dolphins in other grade levels! Our 2nd Graders and 6th Graders recently gathered for a special lesson about axolotls. After this lesson, Mrs. Remmert's and Ms. Ballesteros' classes collaborated on paintings depicting these popular amphibians, complete with gills.

Don Riggio students explore world history through art! Our 6th Graders have spent hours creating culptures based on Greek vases. They recently began this project by building a base with balloons, cups, bowls, paper towel rolls, foil and masking tape. After adding multiple layers of papier-mâché and painting their designs, these students ended up with vases depicting intricate geometric patterns inspired by Greek art.

Don Riggio gave a warm welcome to singer and children's entertainment sensation Jahri's World! The initiative's founder, Jerry Turner, gave a memorable performance as The Hot Jalapeño on Monday, using songs and dance to help Dolphins practice their rhythm, counting and sensory skills. Our students enjoyed singing into the microphone and trying out percussion instruments to keep the beat going.
