Our 2nd Graders created some new classmates with the Pet Rock project! After reading "Everybody Needs a Rock," Mrs. Reddix's class observed small stones like scientists. Students decorated their Pet Rocks and created tiny homes for them, mixing reading, science, creativity and classroom community!

Our staff team was happy to see Don Riggio families here at Back to School Night. Students worked together with parents and guardians to complete writing and creative exercises as our teachers gave Dolphins a preview of the months ahead. We appreciate all the support of our community to help us make this a special school year!

Dolphins can become talented musicians this year at Don Riggio! Today, Lincoln Unified music teachers demonstrated the musical instruments our students can play in Band, Choir and Strings classes. Choir and Strings are open to 4th - 6th Graders, while Band is available to 5th - 6th Graders.

Parents and guardians must sign a form for students to take our music elective classes. Forms were sent home with 4th - 6th Graders. If you have any questions, you may contact the front office.

We are proud to welcome Shannon Reed to the Dolphin family! She joins us as Don Riggio’s new assistant principal and looks forward to meeting students, parents and guardians for the 2026-27 school year.

This is Ms. Reed’s first year with Lincoln Unified after 10 years of teaching. She has taught math, English, social studies and other subjects for 6th - 8th Graders, and has enjoyed overseeing school theater productions and student leadership programs. After teaching in Mountain House and San Diego County, Ms. Reed is beginning her first administrative position. She believes her teaching career has given her meaningful learning experiences and taught her the importance of positive relationships and collaboration at all schools.

Ms. Reed wants every student at Don Riggio to feel seen, heard and supported. As our assistant principal, she aims to learn more about our school community while visiting classrooms, talking with students and families during pickup and dropoff times, and enjoying after-school events on campus.

Ms. Reed looks forward to having fun conversations with students during recess. Over the summer, she caught up on Marvel movies and spent quality time with her family and pets, including four dogs, four cats and a turtle. Ms. Reed is also an avid sports fan and is always happy to discuss football and basketball with Dolphins of all ages.

Ms. Reed realizes that trust is essential to a positive relationship between families and their school. She intends for every student to feel safe and welcome at school, and for them to receive the same treatment she’d want for her own children. As Don Riggio approaches a transition to become a middle school beginning in the 2027-28 school year, Ms. Reed realizes that our families may have questions and concerns about the future. She sees this transition as a team effort, and is always available to speak with parents and guardians here on campus.
