The Chicanx/Latinx communities are Indigenous and a diverse people. We come from multiple continents, countries, and life experiences. Our language may be indigenous, differ from country, and even region. Despite these differences, we are united in our struggles. San Joaquin Delta College has 49.45% (2019, Chancellor's Office) of students who identify as Chicanx/Latinx. We as tenure-track, full-time faculty are aware of the economic, social, political, and health barriers as well as multifaceted institutional racism facing our community. The original group of tenured faculty known as the Chicanx Latinx Faculty was formally recognized under a memorandum of understanding signed on June 1, 2021. Our goals are to advance work in the interest of our Chicanx Latinx students, staff, and colleagues in the following areas:
Recruitment and Hiring
Educational In-reach, Outreach & Community Relations
HSI Oversight
Professional Development
Curriculum
Campus Facilities & Cultural Climate
Career Technical Education
Chicanx/Latinx Student Empowerment and Cultural Events
