The Stockton springs would like to introduce our news addition a 2002 Pierce Saber Heavy Rescue with 14,000 miles on it from California.This truck will replace our 1992 International heavy rescue we have had for over 20 years.

Today, the emergency services community lost a true icon.

Randolph “Randy” Mantooth, best known for his role as Firefighter/Paramedic John Gage on Emergency!, has passed away after a long illness.

For many firefighters, paramedics, EMTs, dispatchers, and first responders, Emergency! was far more than just a television show. At a time when paramedicine was still in its infancy, the series introduced millions of Americans to the emerging role of paramedics and showcased the lifesaving partnership between firefighters and EMS.

The show’s influence reached well beyond television. It helped spark public support for developing paramedic programs across the United States and inspired countless people to pursue careers in the fire service and emergency medical services. Many of today’s first responders trace their interest in the profession back to watching John Gage and Roy DeSoto answer calls with Squad 51.

Randy Mantooth remained a dedicated supporter of the emergency services community throughout his life, continuing to advocate for firefighters and paramedics and helping tell their stories long after Emergency! left the air.

His legacy will live on not only through his work on screen, but through the generations of first responders who chose this profession because of the inspiration he provided.

Rest in peace, Randy Mantooth. Thank you for helping inspire the people who answer the call.

On January 15, 1972, the TV series Emergency! premiered. With the introduction of Johnny and Roy, EMS and paramedicine would be forever changed.
Today we learn that Randolph Mantooth (Johnny) died. He inspired generations of people to enter EMS and even though he was never a licensed EMS clinician, his influence carries on across Maine, the US and arguably the planet. Rest in peace Johnny. KMG 365 signing off.
