August Anthem | Back-to-School J.A.M.

Now Playing: Your Best School Year Yet

Throughout August, we’ve explored what it means to begin the school year with purpose.

Week 1: Set the Stage
Create a classroom where every learner feels welcomed, valued, and ready to learn.

Week 2: Establish the Rhythm
Build routines that create consistency, confidence, and a strong learning culture.

Week 3: Keep the Beat
Design learning experiences where every student actively thinks, participates, and contributes.

Week 4: Remix in Real Time
Use student evidence to adjust instruction and meet learners where they are.

Now it’s time to put it all together. Every lesson is an opportunity to increase access, create meaningful connections, and engage learners in multiple ways.

The J.A.M. Check™

Before you press play each day, ask yourself:

J – Just-Right Learning
Can every learner access this experience?

A – Authentic Learning
Why does this learning matter?

M – Multimodal Learning
How can students engage with and demonstrate learning in multiple ways?

What a great day!! I had the opportunity to facilitate The LOL Playbook: Unlock Your Leadership Potential with the Deacon Board of Beulah Missionary Baptist Church.

Together, we focused on three principles:

1. Listen to your team
2. Operate in your gift
3. Lead with confidence

Simple principles. Powerful leadership.

I am grateful for the opportunity to partner with organizations that are intentional about developing leaders who understand themselves, value the strengths of others, and lead with intention.

If your church, nonprofit, organization, school, or business is looking to strengthen its leaders, Academically Victorious Consulting would love to bring The LOL Playbook to your team.

Let’s connect!

Week 4: Remix in Real Time

No lesson goes exactly as planned.

Sometimes students need more support.
Sometimes they're ready for a greater challenge.
Sometimes the best teaching move is to pause, adjust, and respond.

Great teaching isn't about following the lesson plan perfectly—it's about meeting learners where they are while keeping the learning goal in sight.

When we listen to our students, we know when it's time to remix.

Soundcheck
What are your students telling you that your instruction needs today?

Remix This
Before moving to the next lesson, review one piece of student evidence—a discussion, an exit ticket, or classroom observation.

Ask yourself:

What did students understand?
Where are they struggling?
What needs to change tomorrow?

Then make one intentional adjustment based on what you learned.

Victory Move
Use student evidence—not assumptions—to guide your next instructional move.

The J.A.M. Check™

As you remix in real time, ask yourself:

J – Just-Right Learning
How can I adjust this lesson so every learner has an appropriate pathway to success?

A – Authentic Learning
How can I make this learning more meaningful based on what my students need?

M – Multimodal Learning
What additional opportunities can I provide for students to engage with and demonstrate their learning?

Week 3: Keep the Beat

A classroom isn't engaging because students are busy.

It's engaging because students are thinking.

Real engagement happens when learners question, collaborate, create, reflect, and make meaning together. It's not about keeping students occupied—it's about inviting every learner to actively participate in the learning experience.

When students own the learning, the rhythm of your classroom changes.

Soundcheck
Who is doing most of the thinking and talking in your classroom—you or your students?

Remix This
Take one teacher-led activity this week and redesign it so students have more opportunities to discuss, investigate, create, or explain their thinking.

Victory Move
Plan one learning experience this week where every student actively contributes—not just the volunteers.

The J.A.M. Check™

As you keep the beat, ask yourself:

J – Just-Right Learning
Can every learner actively participate in this experience?

A – Authentic Learning
Does this learning invite students to think, connect, and contribute in meaningful ways?

M – Multimodal Learning
How can students engage with and demonstrate their learning in multiple ways?

Week 2: Establish the Rhythm

The first days of school aren't just about teaching content—they're about creating consistency.

Strong routines reduce uncertainty, build confidence, and create the conditions for meaningful learning. When students know what to expect, they can focus less on procedures and more on learning.

Your routines become the rhythm that keeps your classroom moving.

Soundcheck
Do your routines create opportunities for learning or simply manage behavior?

Remix This
Choose one classroom routine this week—entering the room, transitioning between activities, or collaborating with peers.

Instead of simply explaining it, model it, practice it, and provide feedback until it becomes part of your classroom culture.

Victory Move
Identify one routine that could better support student independence and intentionally reteach it this week.

The J.A.M. Check™

As you establish the rhythm, ask yourself:

J – Just-Right Learning
Can every learner successfully access and follow this routine?

A – Authentic Learning
How does this routine help students become more confident, independent learners?

M – Multimodal Learning
How can students learn and practice this routine in multiple ways?

August Anthem | Back-to-School J.A.M.

Week 1: Set the Stage

Before students learn from your lessons, they learn from your classroom.

They notice:
• How they're greeted.
• What's displayed.
• Whether they feel seen.
• Whether they belong.

The learning environment sends a message before instruction ever begins.

Soundcheck
What message does your classroom send before you say a word?

Remix This
Walk into your classroom as if you were a student. What would you notice? What one change could make your classroom more welcoming, accessible, or engaging?

Victory Move
Choose one intentional change this week that helps every learner feel like they belong.

The J.A.M. Check™

As you set the stage, ask yourself:

JAMMIN' IN JULY | Week 4: Build Your DI Playlist

As you prepare for the new school year, bring it all together. A strong lesson isn't built around one strategy—it's designed with intention. Before you finalize your lesson, try the J.A.M. Check:

J – Just-Right: How will I make learning accessible for every student?

A – Authentic: How will students see the relevance of this learning?

M – Multimodal: How can students engage with and demonstrate their learning in different ways?

When you intentionally plan for J.A.M., you create learning experiences that increase access, engagement, and achievement for every learner.

Same goal. Different tracks. One powerful J.A.M.

JAMMIN' IN JULY | Week 3: Multimodal Learning

Students don't all learn or demonstrate understanding in the same way—and they shouldn't have to.

As you prepare for the new school year, think about how you'll provide multiple pathways for students to engage with learning and show what they know.

As you plan, consider:
* Visual learning
* Discussion and collaboration
* Hands-on experiences
* Creative ways for students to demonstrate understanding

Multiple pathways. One learning goal.

Same goal. Different tracks. One powerful J.A.M.
