🏆 A REMARKABLE ACHIEVEMENT FOR STILWELL HIGH SCHOOL 🏆

Stilwell High School is proud to recognize 2026 graduate Wyatt Newsom on being selected as a recipient of The Gates Scholarship, one of the most prestigious and competitive scholarships in the United States.

Each year, only about 300 students nationwide are selected as Gates Scholars from tens of thousands of applicants, making it a scholarship with an acceptance rate of well under 1%. This honor places Wyatt among an elite group of student leaders across the country.

The Gates Scholarship is awarded to students who demonstrate:
✅ Exceptional academic achievement
✅ Outstanding leadership abilities
✅ Strong character and perseverance
✅ Meaningful involvement in their school and community
✅ A commitment to making a positive impact on the world around them

In addition to this incredible recognition, The Gates Scholarship helps cover the full cost of attendance not already covered by other financial aid, allowing recipients to pursue their college education with fewer financial barriers.

Wyatt's selection reflects years of hard work, dedication, leadership, and excellence both inside and outside the classroom. He has represented Stilwell Public Schools with distinction, and we could not be more proud of this extraordinary accomplishment.

🏀✍️ Congratulations to Mady George on signing to continue her academic and athletic career at Randall University!

Through hard work, dedication, and countless hours in the gym, Mady has earned the opportunity to take her game to the next level and compete in collegiate basketball. We are incredibly proud of all she has accomplished as a Lady Indian and know this is just the beginning of an exciting new chapter.

Stilwell Public Schools and Stilwell Indian Athletics congratulate Mady on this outstanding achievement. We can't wait to follow her journey and cheer her on as she represents Stilwell at Randall University.

The Hagan Scholarship is a nationwide, need-based merit scholarship designed to help students graduate college debt-free. The scholarship provides up to $7,500 each semester for up to eight consecutive semesters and equips recipients with a practical understanding of important life skills not typically covered in school curriculum through free workshops, Schwab Brokerage Accounts, and study abroad opportunities.

Hagan Scholars have attended 745 colleges and universities located across all 50 states and the District of Columbia and have studied abroad in 64 countries.

Stilwell Public Schools is proud to announce the selection of Dr. Meleah Hicks as the district’s next Superintendent of Schools.

A proud graduate of Stilwell Public Schools, Dr. Hicks returns home with more than a decade of educational leadership experience and a deep commitment to serving the community that helped shape her life and career. Her background includes leadership roles as an elementary principal, leadership development coach, instructional leader, and district-level coach supporting school leaders across Oklahoma.

Most recently, Dr. Hicks has served as a Leadership Development Coach with Tulsa Public Schools, where she coached and supported principals and assistant principals in strengthening instructional leadership, school culture, systems alignment, and student achievement. Throughout her career, she has been recognized for her ability to build strong relationships, develop leaders, improve systems, and keep students at the center of every decision.

Dr. Hicks earned her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Arkansas and has dedicated her career to creating learning environments where students, staff, and communities thrive together.

“Returning to Stilwell as Superintendent is both deeply personal and incredibly meaningful to me,” said Dr. Hicks. “Stilwell Public Schools invested in me long before I ever held a leadership title. This community helped shape my values, my work ethic, and my belief in the power of education. It is truly an honor to return home and serve the students, staff, families, and community that mean so much to me.”

As Superintendent, Dr. Hicks plans to focus on strengthening academic systems, supporting and developing staff, building strong community partnerships, and ensuring every student has access to high-quality opportunities and support.

The Stilwell Board of Education expressed excitement about the future of the district under Dr. Hicks’ leadership and shared confidence in her vision, experience, and heart for the community.

Dr. Hicks will officially begin her role as Superintendent on July 1, 2026.

Week one of Summer Camp is in the books for the Stilwell Indians! ❤️🖤

This week, our students explored Oklahoma and Cherokee heritage through hands-on learning, creativity, and plenty of fun along the way. Our amazing teachers brought history and culture to life each day by encouraging students to learn, participate, and make memories together.

Here’s a small recap from our field trip to Wilma P. Mankiller Capitol Park — a meaningful experience that helped our students connect with the history, leadership, and heritage that continue to shape our community.

Before heading into Summer Break, we gathered together for a staff breakfast to celebrate the milestones, accomplishments, and dedication of our incredible teachers and staff. We are beyond thankful for the impact each staff member makes in the lives of our students and throughout our district every single day.
