Jake Broom, a MIS junior, was chosen from a select group of 18 out of over 12,000 Sigma Phi Epsilon members to embark on the prestigious Tragos Quest to Greece program.
Jake is an intern with Spears Business, helping redesign the Williams Lab into a consulting and MIS hub for students.
The experience is a 10-day journey with a select group of undergraduate members of Sigma Phi Epsilon from across the country, accompanied by alumni mentors and university faculty.
"The Tragos Quest to Greece was the trip of a lifetime. We spent 10 days visiting six different cities, touring archaeological sites like the Acropolis, the Temple of Poseidon, the Temple of Apollo, the site of the first Olympics, and more. We also spent hours each evening discussing the works of philosophers like Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle while reflecting on how to apply these teachings to our own lives. The trip was truly life-changing and has given me a new perspective on my values, beliefs, and purpose."

Femi Abioye stepped to the podium in his crisp black suit and sleek black tie, which made his starched white shirt seem almost radiant. His hands were steady on each side of the dais. Abioye looked cool on the outside, but he was admittedly a little nervous.
How could he not be?
A standout Management Information Systems - Spears School of Business junior, he was tasked with revealing the motivation behind his academic achievements and unshakable demeanor to an audience of around 400 distinguished alumni and award-winning students at the 2024 Spears Business Dean’s Scholarship Banquet.
Abioye wanted to do the opposite. He wanted to tell everyone how their contributions had made his story possible, and that committing to the process of success – no matter how tough it may be – was essential. He wouldn’t be standing at the front of that room without it.
That’s when he dropped the bombshell.
“Sometimes, things come out of left field and hit you like a truck,” Abioye said. “That kind of happened to me last November when I lost my father.”
