OLLI is working hard to be more accessible for those still working during the day. If you're in the Tulsa area (class is held at OSU-Tulsa), duck out of work a little early for a few Mondays to join us for Mixed Media Printmaking taught by the phenomenal career art teacher (and OSU College of Education & Human Sciences alum), Carmela Grantham! Class is 4-5pm Mondays, Sept. 21 to Oct. 19 (no class Oct. 12).

In this course, you'll complete monoprints using acrylic paint; then you'll use the prints to make mixed media forms of art including collage and weaving! To learn more about monoprints and learn how to enroll in the $30 course, visit the link in the comments!

Dr. Jason Lavery, Regents Professor of History, is offering a look at Germany's historical trajectory over the last 100 years from its earliest experiment in democracy up to modern Germany and every significant era between. This 8-week online course, Germany from Democracy to Democracy, begins Wednesday, Sept. 16, at 1:30pm.

Thanks to the generosity of ther Bernard Osher Foundation, this non-credit class for the joy of learning (no homework) is only $35 after annual membership fees (membership is as little as $40).

Is that the right kind of radio in the graphic? No, no it is not. But our social media team hadn't had this class yet. ;) Amateur radio enthusiast Bob Hensey joined me to share a little about his upcoming course that begins at 1:30pm on Monday, Sept. 21, Radio Communications: Amateur Radio's Science, History, and Many Uses.

Remember what a blast it was using walkie talkies as a kid? This course offers that kind of joy and more. Watch the video and join us for this perfect mix of fun and pragmatism (we know cell phone systems can become overloaded in an emergency).

We can do as little as 5 minutes (7-10 minutes, questions included!) or we can do a more substantive presentation (20-30 minutes) or something in between. Just let us know what serves your needs best!

We're especially interested in OKC, Tulsa, and Stillwater area opportunities, but we'd be glad to look into visiting you elsewhere too -- remember we have great online programming in addition to these in-person hubs!

We are so excited to offer this class in Oklahoma City taught by Dr. Autumn Brown on the pivotal work of Clara Luper, her students, and the wider freedom struggle they were part of. Join us!

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at OSU will host Dr. Autumn Brown's course, "From Sit-Ins to Statehood: Clara Luper and the Fight for Civil Rights in Oklahoma City." The course will center on the life and activism of Clara Luper, a pivotal leader in Oklahoma City's Civil Rights Movement.

Students will examine Luper's work alongside a broader historical framework that contextualizes Oklahoma's path to statehood, including the displacement of Indigenous nations and the systemic oppression of Black communities prior to the Civil Rights era.

By tracing the evolution of segregation, racial violence and resistance in Oklahoma, the course will highlight how local activism intersected with national movements for justice.

The course will be every Tuesday, Sept. 22 through Oct. 13 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. The course will be taught in Oklahoma City.
