Today, OSU Nu Chapter of Phi Alpha Theta undergraduate and graduate students traveled to Weatherford, Oklahoma for the annual Phi Alpha Theta conference. OSU Nu Chapter graduate students swept the Graduate American category and took first place in Graduate Non-American. Congratulations to all that attended, presented, and placed.

Dr. Carreiro is bringing Monica Rhodes with the National Trust for Historic Preservation to campus on February 25th. Phi Alpha Theta will be having coffee, come and go, between 1:30 and 3:00 that day for anyone who wants to talk to with her. This is a great opportunity for anyone in our public history program.

Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society 2016 Biennial Conference
January 6-10, 2016, Orlando, Florida

CALL FOR PAPERS AND PAPER PROPOSAL SUBMISSIONS
SUBMISSION DEADLINE: November 18, 2015

Phi Alpha Theta invites all student members and faculty advisors to present a paper at the 2016 Biennial Convention. Proposals from all historical fields and time periods are welcome. The conference is open to faculty and students at all levels including undergraduates, Master’s candidates, Ph.D. students, as well as students who have graduated.

There is no limit to the number of paper presenters per chapter, however only one paper per individual is permitted. All presenters must be verified members of Phi Alpha Theta, if a student wishes to present, but is not currently a member, s/he must be join prior to the convention.

Panels will be arranged based on their general theme, i.e. Cold War, 19th Century Europe, 20th Century US, etc. Please keep in mind when making your travel plans that we are unable to accommodate individual scheduling requests. All paper presenters should plan on attending the entire conference. Once the program is finalized, students will receive a confirmation email providing the date and time of their panel, as well as the contact information for their panel chair, to whom they will submit their paper. Papers should not be sent to the National Office.

Presentations should not exceed fifteen minutes in length (approximately 8-10 typed, double-spaced pages). Due to the exorbitant cost, no audio-visual equipment will be provided.

History Graduate Student Organization Conference

The History Graduate Student Organization at Texas Tech University invites you to join us for our Fifth Annual History Graduate Student Organization Conference to be held on the campus of Texas Tech University on February 6, 2016. We invite proposals for individual graduate and undergraduate papers as well as panel presentations for three to five scholars on historical topics.
For individual paper presentations, please send a 300-word abstract as well as a CV to [email protected]. For panel presentations, please send a 500-word panel proposal along with all applicable CVs. Panel chairs and commentators will be provided but suggestions are welcomed.

We will be accepting proposals through November 30, 2015 and will respond to all proposals by the second week of December.
