Stillwater Early Learning

Each year every Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) Program in the state of MN is asked to do a community needs survey to assess how well we are meeting the needs of the families in our community. The information gathered through this process will help guide our future program offerings.

Sara Erickson, one of the ECFE Parent Educators was awarded the Emerging Leader Award through Minnesota Association of Family and Early Education (MNAFEE) at their big conference in April. Beyond Sara's role as a Parent Educator with ECFE in Stillwater, she also supports the U of MN Parent and Family Education Program. Sara is a phenomenal educator who shows up everyday with wisdom, a sense of humor, and authentic care for the families she works with.

Many of the classes at the ECFC have been raising caterpillars the last few weeks. The children have been watching them the caterpillars as they made their chrysalis and then eventually emerged as butterflies! Some of the butterflies were released at the Spring Family Fair!

The Early Childhood Spring Family Fair was a huge success! Thanks to all who came out to explore the ECFC indoors and outdoors and engage with the community partners and activities. Thank you to all of the community partners, early childhood advisory council volunteers, and staff who helped make this a successful event.

This is a FREE event taking place from 9-12 at the ECFC (Indoors and Outdoors!).

We're excited for you and your child to explore the following activities:
- camping and pretend fishing
- petting bunnies
- visiting with therapy dog, Bendor
- creating a baby canvas (babies and toddlers!)
- painting outside
- cooking in our mud kitchen
- taking part in a family service project
- building with clay
- making a bird feeder to take home
- planting a seed to take home (thank you Rose Floral!!!)
- blow bubbles
- climb on logs
- tour one of our preschool classrooms
- play in the Little Gym

Two-Hour Late Start

All Stillwater Area Public Schools are delayed by two hours today, Thursday, April 2. Buses will pick up students two hours later than usual. There is no morning half-day preschool in the elementary buildings and no morning classes at the Early Childhood Family Center. Before school Adventure Club will be closed.
