The Oklahoma State University Department of Animal and Food Sciences offers two majors (animal science and food science). It is one of the largest department on campus with more than 1,000 undergraduate students, but with a small town feel, a caring attitude and a commitment to every student.

Nominations are being accepted for awards presented annually by the Department of Animal and Food Sciences to alums and supporters that positively impacted animal agriculture, the food industry, and/or the department. The awards include Graduates of Distinction, Advanced Degree Graduates of Distinction, and Distinguished Service Award.

The Oklahoma Pork Council is excited to officially launch their Give-A-Ham campaign on Giving Tuesday (December 3rd). Starting at 8 a.m., they’ll be set up on the northeast side of the Student Union with their smoker trailer and serving tables for free grab-and-go pork sandwiches. They’ll be distributing 1,000 sandwiches, including Blue and Gold sausage biscuits and pulled pork sandwiches, as part of this community giveback initiative. Please stop by!

Rob and Mary Shuey
Congratulations to Rob and Mary Shuey of Dakota Dunes, South Dakota, for being honored as 2024 Oklahoma State University Ferguson College of Agriculture Distinguished Alumni!
The couple graduated with bachelor’s degrees in animal science from OSU in 1981. They originally met as members of the OSU meat judging team. Since their time at OSU, the Shueys have remained involved with the OSU Department of Animal and Food Sciences by providing scholarships for the meat and livestock judging teams and the Rob and Mary (Kalka) Shuey Animal and Food Sciences Endowed Graduate Student Fellowship Fund.
