The first Business Brews of the semester was a packed house! ☕️ The topic was “Internship Round-Up“. We gathered Spears students who interned this past summer and created a panel where they could share insightful information with their peers!

The next Business Brews is on October 2nd, & the topic is “Finance Frontiers”!💸💰

Kate Contreras is headed west this summer with Frito-Lay! 🤠 😋
"I am doing a Sales internship with Frito-Lay this summer in El Paso, TX. I will be completing a project that is focused on executing innovation in the food industry; by meeting specific and measurable goals on certain products, I am in charge of pushing these new items through our frontline operations teams while collaborating cross-functionally. I hope to gain a deep understanding of the food industry, such as trends, opportunities and challenges. Furthermore, I hope to cultivate transferable skills valuable in sales and related fields. Overall, I want to make an impact in Frito-Lay, a global brand that drives innovation."

Business management major Ava Hoppe is spending her summer in the Devon Tower! 🏙️ 👷‍♀️

I am the HR intern for Devon Energy this summer in Oklahoma City. I am working in the Talent Acquisition and DEI department. My summer project is to create new ways to improve the Devon internship recruitment strategy, specifically for university career fairs. This involves designing new merchandise and swag items, planning a recruitment event for OSU students to network with Devon recruiters, and creating content to post on Devon's social media platforms. I am also participating in information sessions, shadowing, public speaking training and tours to develop my skills and learn more about the business. By the end of the summer, I hope to have made an impact on Devon internship recruiting strategy, gained experience in event planning, and learn more about Devon and the oil and gas industry.

One of our amazing Career Coaches, Mike Stump retired this past month. The team had a great time celebrating him with friends and family. Mike has made a tremendous difference in many students lives while working at OSU. We cannot express how much we will miss him and the wonderful insight he brought to the team. Congratulations Mike!🎉

This past Wednesday the Eastin Center for Career Readiness celebrated a decade of preparing students for their careers. Benefactor Joe Eastin was there as well as President Kayse Shrum to mark the accomplishment. Thank you to everyone who has helped make the Eastin Center what it is today. Teamwork makes the dream work! 👏
