Jay has been a mentor to our teams in the past. Great to see his story and how he gives back!
As a former NASA intern, Jay Estes experienced the impact of mentorship firsthand. He joined NASA full-time after graduating from the The University of Oklahoma and hasn’t looked back since.
Jay’s work and contributions have greatly impacted the agency over the past 35 years. He currently serves as a facility lead integrator for the Crew Health and Performance Exploration Analog, helping NASA move towards the goal of reaching Mars and with NASA's James Webb Space Telescope.
“I've enjoyed being a mentor, and my years in the co-op (internship) program were very good for me. I hope to return the favor to other young folks. I really enjoy interacting with the younger engineers and learn a lot by trying to teach them parts of my job,” Jay said.
📣 NASA mentors are making students' dreams come true and paving the way for the next generation of explorers. 1 week until applications for summer internships close! Explore internship openings at https://go.nasa.gov/3sR54eW.

Happy Monday! As the anniversary of the Apollo 8 mission approaches, we’d like to recognize Frances “Poppy” Northcutt. During the Apollo 8 mission at the age of 25 she became the first female engineer to work for NASA’s Mission Control.
Poppy and her team planned out the trajectory for Apollo 8 to return to the Earth from the Moon... and they did safely on December 27, 1968. Northcutt worked on Apollos 8, 10, 11, 12 and 13, paving the way for women working in STEM. Well done Poppy!🚀🌟
