Our 2023 OAETA/ STAR Committee Summer Professional Development Conference is in the books after another day of industry tours and teacher-led workshops in Durant and Madill.
Attendees toured Savage Pecan Equipment and Oklahoma Steel & Wire plants. These are great examples of Oklahoma agricultural enterprises employing hundreds of workers in the region who produce products shipped and sold worldwide. After another tasty lunch provided by Madill FFA, our teachers participated in several teacher-led workshops. We ended the conference with round table small group discussions about common AgEd teacher issues, duties, and plans for the future.
Special thanks to Madill FFA, Silo FFA, and Durant FFA and the entire group of Southeast Area AgEd Teachers for hosting us this week. Also, thank you to the OAETA Professional Membership and STAR Committees for their work to make this conference happen.
Make plans to attend next year’s OAETA summer PD conference!

Yesterday, we kicked off the 2023 OAETA/ STAR Committee Summer Professional Development Conference in the Southeast Area. We started off with a tour of Silo’s AgEd facility and a tour of Top Notch Turf sod farm. After a fabulous fish fry lunch provided by Top Notch Turf, we had an afternoon of teacher-led workshops at Durant High School focusing on a wide variety of topics. We got an inside look at Durant’s future AgEd facility and some communication tips from Oklahoma Farm Bureau’s Communications. We finished the evening with a meal at Lost Street Brewing Company.
Special thanks to our industry tour partner, Top Notch Turf and our host AgEd sites, Silo FFA and Durant FFA.
More professional development and industry tours are happening today! Details posted soon!
