We are still looking for gray fox samples! Here is a county-level map of the samples we've received (darker colors indicate more samples). If you can help us fill in the gaps, please let us know.

Happy Sunday Everyone! Trapping Season is in full swing and to make it easier to donate samples we have started to compile a list of designated drop off locations across the state! Please contact us for the drop-off details for your area! Welcome! The Oklahoma gray fox project is a collaborative effort between USGS Oklahoma Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit, Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation, and Oklahoma State University but would not be possible without help from fur trappers. This page is designed to provide information for those that are interested in this project and to provide information to fur trappers who are interested in contributing. Our goal is to determine the current status of prairie gray foxes in Oklahoma. Our primary research objectives are to evaluate the spatial ecology and population genetics of the prairie gray fox in Oklahoma.
