Just curious, what is going on within the house with the Covid-19 restrictions across the country? Members only in house? Room limits? Pledges in or out of house? Cafeteria open or closed? I am guessing no parties or gatherings of any sort. Can anyone give some updates as what life in the house is like presently? Thanks in advance. In Hoc..... Sully 1882

Brothers, it is with extreme sadness I wanted to inform that Scott Andrews '86 passed from this world on Monday. Scott was a friend of mine (along with many other Gamma Delta brothers from Durant) since middle school and our connection through Sigma Chi deepened our bond. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, 8/30 at 11:00 Harvey Douglas Funeral Home, 2118 S. Commerce St., Ardmore, Oklahoma 73401. All Honor To His Name. In hoc, Todd

Brothers,

The Provence Workshop is coming up and I want to give you a few details.

1. The day is February 10th in Norman Ok starting at 8:30 and be finished no later than 5. The meetings will be held in Dale Hall lecture room 455 West Lindsey,
Dale Hall Tower 521 Norman, OK 73019 . The breakout rooms will be announced at the beginning of the day. Lunch will be provided.

2. The key focus will be Ritual Peer training. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the ritual and the meanings behind our ceremonies. We are anticipating about 30+ alumni from several states. We will also be spending sometime on strategic plan review and topics from our upcoming international conference call.

3. I checked hotel rates and Fairfield Inn, Marriott Conference Center, La Quinta, Holiday Inn Express, Courtyard and Hilton Garden Inn are all between 75- 100 a night.

4. It is only a one day meeting so feel to drive in and leave afterwards, I just wanted to give you options.

The expectation is to have ALL executive members, current and upcoming officers and emerging leaders. Please be on time and we will have a productive day.

So who's going down to Austin for the game in October? We should coordinate and try to all stay at hotels in the same area and get together either Friday or Saturday night.
Will the tailgate be located at the same location this year?

Sad news to pass along. Just found out that our long time chef, Larry Moss, passed away yesterday after suffering a heart attack. Funeral will be on 7/27 at the Palmer Marler funeral home in Cushing, OK.

04/13/2017

It is with great sadness that we pass along some terrible news this evening. Brother Cricket Kingham passed away this evening after a battle with lung cancer and then pneumonia. Cricket had been a tireless volunteer for Gamma Delta and Sigma Chi. He was a member of the Order of Constantine, the Fraternity's highest honor for an alumni volunteer. Gamma Delta is especially indebted to his service, as his 10 plus year tenure as House Corporation President include the total remodel of the Chapter House, as well as a raising of the bar in programmatic areas. Cricket was a great friend, and a great Sigma Chi. Please keep strong arms around his wife Lee, and sons Jason and Chris. I'll pass along funeral information as soon as it is available.

We are devastated at the loss of Brandon Cavazos and working to support each other as best as we can. More than anything, our hearts are with Brandon’s family as they start the very difficult grieving process. We are cooperating completely with local police and Oklahoma State University but respectfully ask for space as we attempt to make sense of this tragedy.

Please direct any questions to Whit Culver, House Corporation President, via email at [email protected]

08/05/2014

This weekend, at the conclusion of Balfour Leadership Training Workshop, Gamma Delta received the Peterson Significant Chapter Award. It is the third time in the last 4 years the Chapter has received the award. This is a significant achievement that represents the overall success of the Chapter over the last year.

Congratulations are in order again for Brother Connor Davis as well. Connor was a finalists for the International Balfour Award, which recognizes the top undergraduate in the Fraternity. Adrian Avila, from New Mexico, was the overall winner, but we are all very proud of Connor's achievements. He is brought distinction to Gamma Delta, and adds to the recent legacy laid down by Clint Merritt and Taylor Henderson, recent winners of the award from Gamma Delta.

Finally, the Gamma Delta House Corporation once again received the Gold Outstanding House Corporation Award.

Looking forward to the next school year, we are off to a great start!

05/30/2014

Congratulations are in order for brother Connor Davis. Connor, who was Gamma Delta's Consul in 2012, was recently named a finalist for the 2014 International Balfour Award, which recognizes the top undergraduate in the Sigma Chi Fraternity. The award winner will be announced this summer at Balfour Leadership Training Workshop.

This extends a remarkable stretch for Gamma Delta and the Balfour award. We had the 2010 winner in Clint Merritt, followed up by the 2012 winner in Taylor Henderson.

Connor graduated this spring, and will be headed to graduate school at the University of Chicago in the fall. He represents the best qualities of a Sigma Chi, and deserves to be the winner of the Balfour Award.

With a heavy heart, I pass along the information that Brother Larry Smith, who was in the 1998 fall pledge class at Gamma Delta, passed away last night. There was an apparent fire in his apartment, and he suffered smoke inhalation.

Funeral information will be passed along as soon as we hear something.

Larry was a great Brother, who loved Sigma Chi. He dutifully served the chapter as Quaestor, amongst other positions, and is remembered as being unfailingly loyal to his friends. There are numerous side splitting stories about Larry, he was the best.

Brothers,

How 'bout them Cowboys! Great win this past weekend.

We know everyone is looking forward to our home opener which is also Dad's Day. The Gamma Delta Posse is looking forward to our second season of pregame tailgating. Our first year was a big success; this year will be even better.

As you may or may not know, the pregame tailgate was one of the initiatives by Significant Sig Roger T. Helms (Gamma Delta '86). He underwrote huge expenses last year to kick off a potentially great tradition for Gamma Delta at OSU football games. Roger purchased a large, commercial quality tent, hired a service to put up and take down the tent each week, paid for the food, the food service personnel, security, and everything else that it took to make the show go on. Thank you Roger!

This year another great brother has stepped up. Significant Sig John A. Clerico (Gamma Delta '63) has been a huge supporter for many years. Among many other things, John was one of the three men who donated the gift which made Gamma Delta a "Thomas Cowan Bell" chapter back before there even was such a thing. Bell chapter status gives our young men guaranteed participation in many of the Fraternity's leadership programs. John has agreed to underwrite the expenses related to the tailgate this season. Please pass on our thanks when you see Brother Clerico.

This year we have asked the Stillwater Alumni Association to take a leadership role in order to involve more people, relieve pressure from the actives, and provide a higher degree of continuity from year to year. Members of the Alumni group will work very closely with the active chapter and are very excited about their expanded involvement.

Additionally, a blast email went out today with this information. We will be sending out emails at the beginning of every week that will include details for that week's tailgate. If you didn't receive this email, but would like to be added to the list, please send an email to [email protected].

OSU vs. Lamar will be the beginning of this fall's pregame tailgates.

Saturday, September 14

Tailgate Opens: Noon

Food Begins: 4:30 p.m.

Kickoff: 6:30 p.m.

The tent is just west of the Seratean Center on the south side of Morrill Ave.

Be sure to thank Brother John Clerico for generously underwriting this year's tailgate season!

08/04/2013

Two great pieces of information to pass along from Leadership Workshop today:

1. Gamma Delta received the Peterson Signficant Chapter Award today. The undergrads are doing a great job, we should all be proud of them.

2. The Gamma Delta House Corporation Board was named the outstanding house corporation in the Fraternity.

These are great accomplishments that will help us get off to a great start once school starts in a few weeks.

Rush is concluded for the summer as well. We have signed 44 young men, which gives us the largest pledge class at OSU. The rush team worked very hard and signed some great kids. Should be a great year!

07/09/2013
