I’m pleased to be working with Enid Plainsmen Pacer Athletics again this year, and I’m thrilled that part of the Enid High football schedule is one of my assignments. On top of that, I’m proud that part of the gig for these games is announcing the group I was part of so many years ago - the Enid High School Big Blue Band!

Hi again all! Time for another catch-up post on what's been going on this spring.
So, in my first post for the page, I mentioned I had started working with Enid High Athletics to announce basketball this season. I'm happy to say that affiliation has continued, and in addition to EHS basketball, I also announced the Class 2A area tournaments Enid hosted. It was great throughout basketball season to catch up with Enid folks and with hometown folks from elsewhere at the Area tournament, since Fairview High and Oklahoma Bible Academy were participants.
I also helped out a little with Enid High baseball and got to step into the booth at one of the state's best facilities in David Allen Memorial Ballpark. More on that later...
Back in Stillwater, it was my second season back on the mic for Cowgirl Softball, and while each season is different, it's always a good time there. There are so many changes happening with softball to build more engagement and excitement, which is great for me as an announcer.
I pulled double duty at the end of the semester, following up another commencement ceremony for the College of Arts and Sciences with a NCAA women's tennis super regional match. A busy day, but an enjoyable one all around!
And, to top it off, I got a call to announce state playoff soccer at Stillwater High, so I'm hopeful to talk about possibilities at SHS for next year as well.
I've got one last series of gigs this season starting this weekend, and it's a set I'm very excited about. The folks at Enid have invited me to be one of the announcers for the NJCAA Division II World Series that is hosted at DAMB each year, so I am looking forward to being part of a national championship event! I'll be working a lot of the evening sessions and may even get a title game, which would be a lot of fun.
I'm looking forward to upcoming conversations about what the fall might look like, and I'm grateful to get to do this - it's always fun, and I'm glad I can keep some of my skills sharp. Each gig helps me get better, and I appreciate the opportunities to become more well-rounded in the events I announce.

Hi all! Been a while since I checked in here, but that's not too surprising with as busy as spring gets for me. I'm planning a few update posts about what's been going on in recent months, and this is the first!
I recently attended the Southwest District Convention for Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma to honor my friend Andy Melvin as he concludes his service as Southwest District Governor, and it was great to catch up with him and other friends I haven't seen in a while. It also capped an interesting run of events around that time.
Those of you who have known me for a while know that Kappa Kappa Psi has been a big part of my life for a long time now, but it's been less so for these past two years. I'm happy, but still somewhat surprised, to say that will be changing.
I've been asked here and there if I would ever be interested in serving as a chapter sponsor, specifically here at OSU. My answer has always been yes, but that it needed to be a student-initiated decision. So, thanks to my students and those of you who gave them a nudge to restart that conversation with myself and our Director of Bands, Dr. Brad Genevro; I'm proud to say I have joined my friend Wayne Bovenschen as a Sponsor of the Alpha chapter. I'm excited to work with the student membership and let my knowledge be a resource for them, and I'm happy there is still a place for me in the Fraternity. This means a lot to me personally, and you all know they will get my best efforts.
But that's not all...
Earlier this semester, I was invited to become an honorary member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia by the Delta Tau chapter here at OSU. I was as surprised as some of you reading this! But, I was honored that the students would extend such an invitation, and was happy to accept. And it turns out that they had something else in mind as well - about a week after initiation, the brothers elected me to serve as one of their Faculty Advisors alongside my friend Steve Sanders. This was definitely unexpected, but I'm humbled by the faith these students have placed in me. I'm excited to learn more about Sinfonia and use my student organization experience to assist Delta Tau as well.
So there you have it - in the span of a few days, I added the sponsorship of two student organizations to my activities. I'm looking forward to the opportunities, to our conversations this summer, and for what next year will bring!
Next time, we'll talk announcing work (and a lot of it)!

Well, guess I can say something since I’ve been working all afternoon at it! I really enjoy my public address work and take it seriously, and while I’m always happy to fill in at OSU basketball, I know I need more regular mic time to be the best I can be. I’m happy to say I’ve added another gig to my schedule before softball season starts and will be announcing basketball the rest of the season for my alma mater, Enid High School! I’m excited to work with Enid Plainsmen Pacer Athletics and to come home a little more often. Go Big Blue!
