Dr. Per Bylund speaking to the Free Enterprise Society about Anarchism and Anarcho-Capitalism (i.e. 'Rules without Rulers').

Had a great discussion last night about the effects of regulation on our everyday lives!

Garrett Rothstein (Bird Co.) made a great point about how motorized scooters (e.g. Birds) increase the radius of every student's immediate 'walking distance' by a factor of 4x, 5x, or more; this greatly increases the ability of surrounding businesses in the community to offer and provide value (i.e. goods and services) to OSU students. This creates a positive economic effect that extends beyond campus and beyond the value and enjoyment the scooters provide to the riders themselves.

Garrett's comment exemplified Dr. Per Bylund's earlier point about how regulation creates ripple effects throughout the economy -- i.e. a ban on scooters indirectly damages local businesses by denying them would-be consumers who never come because their access to motorized scooters was denied to them by the regulation.

Jadan Terrazas gave an update regarding the University's plans to allow motorized scooters back on campus. According to Jadan, the University will be allowing scooters back on campus (hopefully by January) with the scooters being restricted to specified parking zones (to be designated and constructed by the University over the winter break) and a max travel speed of 10 mph while on campus.
