We’re back with another Alumni Spotlight!

This week, we’re pleased to introduce Jennifer Ochler Teel. Jennifer graduated with her bachelor’s from Oklahoma State University - Department of History in 2018, her primary area of study being American History. After earning her BA, Jennifer went on to complete a MS degree in Teaching, Learning, Leadership/K-12 ED, with an emphasis in Secondary Social Studies, which she just recently finished in May of 2021. She is now working on her state exams, with goals of being a Secondary Social Studies teacher. Jennifer is thinking about returning to school in a few years to begin doctoral studies in History/Museum Studies, with the hopes of becoming a museum curator. Jennifer also volunteers as a docent at Woolaroc Museum & Wildlife Preserve (Frank Phillips Ranch Museum).

Congratulations on all your accomplishments, Jennifer! We are excited to share this Alumni Spotlight with our followers.

The “tourism of decline” helped make the nostalgic “Wild West” a major destination for Americans experiencing the newfound freedom of automobile travel in the twentieth century. Sarah Bickford was an early entrepreneur of saving old buildings to attract curious visitors hoping to see authentic remnants of the past. These pieces of the built environment are a major draw for tourists today, and part of what make ghost towns uniquely recognizable.

Can you guess this famous ghost town from a few images of its landmark structures?
