Rithik Ponugoti is a Data Analytics intern at SJHL, and he has had the opportunity to use analytics to review various internal processes and to make most of it for firm’s growth.

This summer Rithik’s biggest takeaway has been, “The importance of having interpersonal skills and the kind of impact those skills make. Technical skills can surely get you a job but it’s the interpersonal skills that can help you grow and sustain in the firm.

Real world data is far from perfect. It takes time to understand and preprocess data. This internship helped me to make my base strong in technical skills including Python and Tableau.

Overall, my internship experience has been great! I got exposed to real-world problems and solving them in a business setting helped me to understand things beyond the classroom. I am grateful to MS MIS program for equipping me with the skills that help me in my internship.”

Are you an employer or student interested in job shadowing but don’t know the benefits it can offer both ways?

Recently Benjy a sophomore here at OSU studying MIS had the opportunity of job shadowing Jason, a computer specialist at OSU and here is what they had to say!

“I would recommend the practice for a few different reasons. It helps to infuse a workplace with new energy and curiosity. It is also typically very helpful for an employer to look at their processes and break them down into a way that can be shared with a newcomer. In my experience, teaching a skill or a procedure is the best way to deeper learning”.
- Jason

I would totally recommend job shadowing to other students. Especially if you are a freshman or a sophomore testing the waters to see what you want to major in. You have nothing to lose in job shadowing. You trade in a couple of hours and in the end your network grows a little bigger and you are more certain about what you want to do”.
-Benjy
