Take Action League Donates to Rockford Rescue Mission

Take Action League is a group of students from Stillman Valley High School who came together with the shared vision to make a positive impact on their school and community. They are a group of students who are focused on community service, universal acceptance, and mental health awareness.
The students decided they wanted to host a drive. After much discussion they decided on hosting a personal care item drive. All proceeds would be donated to the Rockford Rescue Mission.
On Friday March 10, 2017 Take Action League took a field trip to Rockford Rescue Mission to deliver the donated items. While up there the group was given a wonderful and informative tour of the facilities. The students were taught about all the services provided at the Rockford Rescue Mission from feeding the homeless to job training and education. This experience had influenced these students to consider further volunteer opportunities at the Rockford Rescue Mission.
One of our students, Gabby D, stated that “(she) was most impressed by the childcare that was available to women at the mission not only when they were in treatment but as they began working at a job.” Carh J shared “It was amazing to see the range of services for the people seeking help.” From the size of the facility, the services provided, and the opportunities for growth this was truly a learning experience for the students of Take Action League.
