Last Friday we had a great day at our 2nd Annual PBIS Flag Football Tournament at KIHS! The players played hard and the championship winning team from each grade was recognized!

Thank you to the high school football players who helped ref and the KI PE Department and Athletic Department who helped with set up, clean up, and equipment.

Thanks to those who attended our trivia night. What a fun time! We appreciate the families, staff and PTSA who participated.

Trivia tonight! Doors open at 5:40. Please use the doors in the morning drop off loop. It will be held in the cafeteria. Bring money for snacks or spirit wear. Otherwise, a free event. If you need help finding a team, come see one of the history teachers.

Students in 6th grade History participated in an early civilization project where they had to trade resources to get the materials needed to build a secret invention!

Trivia night is on Tuesday, December 5th. We hope you join us for some family fun. Details were sent out in an email from your students history teacher. PTSA will be selling light snacks and spirit wear. Please enter through the morning drop off loop towards the back of the school.

Meet the Staff Monday! Mr. Jones
Meet our newest 8th-grade history teacher. He may be a familiar face as he previously taught at Bayside across the street before becoming a Pirate. In his free time, he loves being outside, fishing, and serving in the Air Force Reserves. Mr. Jones organized our Veterans Day Assembly this year and we are glad to have him aboard!

Meet our Staff! Ms. Peter
Ms. Peter is one of our amazing 6th grade science teachers, but you may not see her for a while as she just had a baby! In her free time Ms. Peter loves being outdoors, hanging with family, and doing yoga.

Students in Mrs. Sasse’s class outsmarted the escape room like pros! Students completed this fun science challenge on Halloween so you may even see a costume or two 👩‍🔬🧑‍🔬

We’re so excited to elevate our Positive Referral program with the help of the Giving the Edge Foundation and Tasty Toucan! From now on, students who receive a positive referral will get a t-shirt, certificate, free tasty toucan ice cream, and get to sign our pirate book commemorating their achievement!

This week in 8th grade math, students conducted an investigation based on the fable “The Crow in the Pitcher” in order to explore linear relationships and visualize rate of change and y-intercept! 🧪

Meet the staff Monday!

It’s School Psychology Week and we’d like to introduce you to ours, Ms. Jo Prince.
This is Ms. Prince’s second year with us at Stevensville and we love how she works to supports our students and staff.
In her free time, she loves supporting the local sports teams and spending time with her kids and dogs.

On Friday, November 10, 2023, Stevensville Middle School’s 8th grade will have a Veterans’ Day assembly at 8:30 am! Please see this flyer for additional details.

If possible, veteran service members are asked to wear their uniforms to the ceremony.

Our SGA invites all students and staff to participate in Spirit Week this week!

Don’t forget, it’s a short week for students with parent teacher conferences on Thursday afternoon and all day Friday. Call the main office by Wednesday to schedule a conference!

Happy Saturday! It was a great week of fishing for STMS teachers and students! Cole Redding caught his personal best bass and inspired our history teachers (Mr. Fouse, Mr. Birkeland, and Mr. Jones) to go out and give it a try as well. Jayce Kulp also joined in on the fun catching a nice bass! Nobody matched Cole's catch, but everybody had fun!! Thanks KIHS for sharing your ponds!

Fun times learning about theme in Mrs. Sowells’ class! The students created a theme statement for a piece of literature that they were reading. Once a student developed the theme statement, they crumpled the paper and tossed it to someone else in the room. The next student opened the paper and found text evidence to support the theme statement their classmate created.

The students enjoyed this assignment because it had them moving around the room and everyone was able to highlight the themes created by having peers to support the statement with evidence.

Meet the Staff:

Mr.Barletta (pictured with his daughter Ella, a student here at STMS) is our Gateway to Technology teacher. He was nationally recognized as the 2022-23 National Project Lead the Way Gateway Teacher of the Year. He teaches our 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students subjects such as computer science, robotics, app creators, and flight and space.
