St. Timothy's School

St. Timothy's School Chartered in 1832, St. Timothy’s is an independent, all-girls boarding and day school for grades 9-12 Prizing curiosity and intellectual independence, St. St.

Architectural Digest named our 145-acre campus among the 50 most beautiful boarding and day private high schools in the U.S.—and the most beautiful in Maryland. Our affiliation with the Episcopal church means that we value the celebration of all faiths and promote a spirit of inclusivity in every aspect of student life. Timothy’s encourages girls in grades 9-12 to be open-minded, principled, and e

mpathetic community members who embrace a wide variety of thought and experience—while leading balanced lives of sisterhood and joy. Students pursue the prestigious International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (DP) and Middle Years Program (MYP), an interdisciplinary approach that includes independent projects, builds powerful problem-solving and communication skills, and is universally recognized as exceptional preparation for college. A robust student life co-curriculum promotes wellness, ethics, values, and citizenship—ensuring girls live balanced, healthy lives and develop skills that help them gracefully navigate the challenges of college and beyond. Through the Erin Michele Levitas ’11 Mind, Body and Soul Empowerment Program, girls learn about health promotion, risk reduction, and developing a holistic approach to wellness. From our cutting-edge Innovation Lab and makerspace to science and mathematics instruction that incorporates principles of the arts and humanities, our girls prepare to be creative problem solvers and to excel (and lead) in STEM fields. The ideal complement to the IB classroom learning, girls spend two weeks each winter focusing on health and wellness initiatives, conducting hands-on research, and engaging directly with thought leaders and cultural influencers in New York City, Washington, D.C., and throughout the mid-Atlantic region. We offer expert instruction and high-level performance and presentation opportunities in dance, theater, visual art, and vocal and instrumental music. Our Five Arts and Student Center is a state-of-the-art home for arts programming, performances, and exhibitions. Our partnership with the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University means girls may pursue expanding offerings in dance and music. Timothy's college counseling program encourages girls to start thinking about their educational goals early on and provides highly personalized counseling for each student. Our goal is to ensure that each student has the best possible colleges to choose from and that she finds a school satisfying her own educational expectations and aspirations.

What a lovely afternoon in Maine!

We’re so grateful to Strandy Ordway Quesada ’68 for opening her home and bringing St. Timothy’s alumnae together for an afternoon of good conversation, laughter, and beautiful views. It was wonderful to spend time with alumnae from near and far and to hear memories, stories, and updates from across the STT community.

Thank you to all who joined us and Strandy for being such a gracious host. We’re already looking forward to the next time we can gather along the Maine coast!

It's another Flashback Friday! 💍

Some traditions become more meaningful over time. When Frederica "Freddy" Richards Struse '73 inherited her grandmother's St. Timothy's ring, she discovered the inscription "Vérité Sans Peur" around its base. The ring originally belonged to her grandmother, Mary Tolley Worthington Dorsey Ligon Richards, Class of 1913.

Although Freddy never truly knew her grandmother, she has always felt her presence. More than 50 years after receiving the ring, she still wears it every day. While the inscription has softened with time, its message—and the bond it represents—continues to connect them across generations.

Our first photo shows Freddy wearing the ring today. The second photo captures members of the Class of 2027 celebrating this spring's Ring Ceremony as they begin to carry that same tradition forward.

The hairstyles and fashions may have evolved over the years, but the friendships have always been at the heart of the St. Timothy's experience.

This week's Flashback Friday features candid moments from five decades of STT life. Do you spot a familiar face—or even yourself? Tell us your class year or tag a classmate in the comments!
