📚 Learning from powerful words!

Students in Mr. Allen’s sixth-grade English Language Arts class explored the speeches of John Lewis and Martin Luther King Jr. from the 1963 March on Washington, including King’s iconic “I Have a Dream” speech.

Students used ideas from both speeches together in a synthesis, building their reading, writing, and critical-thinking skills while reflecting on messages of equality, courage, and hope.

Great work, Panthers! 🐾

Mrs. Grider’s 8th grade ELA students gave some weak words a proper farewell this week. They were assigned an overused word, went on the hunt for stronger synonyms, and then created a tombstone to officially lay that dull word to rest.

They’re sharpening writing skills, practicing strong word choice, and learning how the right wording can make their writing more precise!
